Richard's Roger was incredible in season 4, He goes from Oxford History professor to cross an ocean, have one fabulous night with Brianna, then have to be sold to the Mohawks. His transition was fabulous and wonderful to watch.

What a great interview. The interviewer was prepared and smooth in her delivery. The fans were amazing - some of the best questions I've heard in an interview. Not one single sex scene question or "what's under your kilt?" So refreshing! I believe this set the actors at ease and we got to see more of their personalities and their innate intelligence - no one treated Sam like beefcake in a skirt. Mutual respect all around! Excellent!
@tianoshana39325 жыл бұрын
You couldn't watch season 1 & 2 and NOT talk about the sex, cringey as the questions could be. It'd be like seeing a neon coloured elephant in a room and not talking about it. In S4, Jaime and Claire are older and the sex is waaay less, so obviously it won't be the focal point.

This interviewer is an absolute all-star. She did a fantastic job keeping the interview flowing and intelligent AND asked no embarrassing "Y'all sooo hawt" questions.
@victoriamarulanda56396 жыл бұрын
A little FYI to everyone out there: the word Y’all actually comes from Scottish slang and the reason you mostly hear it in the south is because the south was mostly settled by Scottish people.

Great interviewer, Beautiful Sister. Richard is so amazing. The potential is awesome there. Roger doesn’t know he’s a time traveler in season 3. That quiet scene sharing a whiskey with Claire after the Reverend’s funeral was so almost scary. Roger’s eyes were hypnotic. A descendant of the witch Gellis Duncan... I hope he surprises us! 😘

I am still sulking over Stephen Colbert’s rudeness with Sam Heughan and his Scotch. That was an odd reaction from Stephen, he sips whiskey frequently on his show. Sam was there to promote the show and it didn’t hurt to promote his brand, as well as Outlander. 🤣

Richard Rankin is from Glasgow whereas Sam Heughan is originally from Galloway then educated in Edinburgh. They are vastly different accents, Glaswegian being much broader. The Edinburgh accent is softer and easier for non-Scots to understand. There isn’t just one Scottish accent.

I can’t wait until next season when they can really discuss some of the things they had to skirt around here. Especially Richard who’s always just sort of sitting there with not much to say (not the interviewer’s fault though, she had to avoid a lot to not spoil things and did try to include him). Part of me wishes I hadn’t read the books yet because it’s so frustrating to have to leave so much in the dark when they do press.

Roger is my favourite character. I know that Claire is the protagonist and especially early on in S1 the audience is viewing everything through her eyes. However as a male negotiating my way through this show I couldn't really identify with Claire, or with Jamie. Jamie is almost a superhero and that creates a distance for me. (It's why I'm not interested in Marvel movies.) Roger is the Everyman of Outlander; you meet him as a rather ordinary guy who is thrown into an extraordinary situation. Prior to Roger, Frank was my window into this world. For me the strongest period in Outlander so far is the time in Boston with Frank and Claire raising Bree. Tobias' and Catriona's acting and the scripts were superb, and everything becomes even more interesting when Roger is thrown into the mix.
@simonm39515 жыл бұрын
The show can be viewed from different points of view. You can't be so rigid and myopic in the way you watch a show. Being a male you cannot identify with Jamie? The strong hotheaded man who falls madly in love and sacrifices his love and will do anything to protect his beloved?

Back in season 1, when Claire is wandering around the castle, she falls into a reverie and 40's music begins playing. It wasn't jarring, it was Claire's internal soundtrack. She's most recently come from 1968, I don't think it's strange that Ray Charles beautiful ode begins to play ironically in this instance of stress. This has always been Claire's story, told from her perspective.
