I can't confirm this, but I have heard many stories like this where someone was truly devoted to Christ but then went head long into a sinful life. And what happened was God took them home. Kind of like, "I've saved you, but if you aren't going to glorify me, I'm bringing you home before you mess things up even further." And that's what I believe happened to Sam. Listening to his sermons you can hear a true love of God, I really believe he was saved, but later he became a horrible influence and lead people away from Christ. And so it seems that God took him away.

To find out the truth about how Sam drank and used coke now that he's passed away, definitely check out the book by his former girlfriend who tells what it was like living with him. Sam had a "rocktail" she explains. Vodka then a line of coke. She also says how he was so wasted from the previous night, they could not get him to wake up during the drive to his next show. He was passed out backstage when his name was called. They finally woke him up and sent him on stage, and they were amazed how he killed it like a pro. No one knew he had just come out of daze.

Yeah, the book is called "Inside Seka" -- yes, his girlfriend was the biggest sex star of the late '70s and early '80s, the porn star 'Seka'. She did a chapter on Sam Kinison in her memoirs. @@carlcraft9237

Did you notice when Joan had Malika come up onto the stage and sit on Sam's lap, she asked her if she would forgive him if he cheated again. Malika's wide-eyed glance into his face was like saying, "You'd better NOT!" Other than that, she didn't answer the question -- not audibly, anyway. Sam was having quite a time trying to get her to speak directly into the microphone.

Watch Sam on In Living Color….just too funny. And to think he was a preacher prior to comedy…that’s funny in itself. But we lost him to a stupid and unnecessary traffic accident. I read somewhere that his brother said he was speaking to someone before he died, saying he didn’t want to go but them succumbed. I’m sure it was God and I’ll bet he’s looking down happy and laughing that we all still enjoy him to this day. RIP Sam.

The Story of Sam is very unique to me. Is he the first and only former preacher that became a comedian? He was a Pentocostal preacher that followed in his parents footsteps because they were preachers. I heard he went to theological college in Florida. This absolutely puzzles me. A former preacher that dip his toes in the darkened life of sex, drugs in the bowels of Los Angeles and Vegas and just by chance he drives down a freeway in Nevada and coincidence he is the only one killed on that road. A former preacher turned to the dark side and dies from a crash. Sorry but there's something more to this story on a spiritual level that exists.
