I also wonder whether he is already cooperating with Mueller; acting as though he is pushing back against the Special Counsel, publically, while actually trying to get conversations out of others. If he refuses to testify and Mueller doesn’t indict him for contempt, it won’t have been done for Nunberg’s benefit.

This man was obviously having a very public panic attack of sorts. I honestly hope he didn't compromise his legal status though I think his intention was to sully himself as a worthwhile witness in any case against Stone. If that was his goal, he likely succeeded. His credibility is shot due to a day long public meltdown. If it was fake and planned, give him an Oscar. If it was real, I hope he gets rest and help dealing with the stress.

He may be counting on a pardon for the contempt charge the same as Joe Arpaio got. Trump can merely say "I think the subpoena was too broad" and pardon the contempt charge, irrespective of due process. It would be a critical blow to the rule of law in this country.

Just think about it for a moment. A guy has been subpoenaed to appear before a GJ in a matter that is extremely awkward to him. He goes on a dozen tv shows and appears to be all over the shop. Bet the next step is to get a favourable psych report and submit that to the court, stating that h e is in no fit condition to testify. It served a school principal who fled to Israel and who is accused of more than 70 sexual assaults on children in Australia for about 15 years.

His attorney would NEVER recommend him to subject himself to these unnecessary questions while simultaneously threatening not to cooperate with the special counsel. Either his lawyer should be disbarred for incompetence (assuming the lawyer, believing his client innocent, was OK with this stunt), or put in jail for conspiring to help put on this media gauntlet of spectacle (assuming the lawyer, knowing his client guilty, was OK with this stunt). And barring either of those possibilities, then we likely have a lawyer with no self-respect, if he claims Nunberg did these shows without discussing it with him first. I say 'no-respect' because I think his lawyer should drop him as a client over such a stunt, if the lawyer is honorable.
