That's some kick ass scenery right there and no tourists and photographers to spoil it!

Thanks Joe, yeah we were shocked it wasn't busier! Most of the tourists disappeared before 5pm to take the buses back to Queenstown and there was only a couple of other photographers around, who were really lovely and considerate by the way. I was expecting a crowd! Sam.

Sam & Hannah you were rewarded with some stunning scenery at Milford Sound (obviously the weather gods took kindly to you) & you certainly made the most of it with some superb photos... Another great Vlog looking forward to your next port of call & adventure Many Thanks for sharing

Sam, your camera has an HDR button. It's just below Menu. Press it and you're a couple of more button presses from shooting (and keeping) three bracketed shots plus a blended JPEG. Unfortunately, exposure simulation no longer works when that's enabled.
@BosePhotography4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, yes I remember you mentioned this before (on one of our Iceland videos I think!). I have used the HDR feature, but to be honest I'm used to just switching on the AEB in the menu and find that just as quick as I do it so often (the option is normally right there when I push the menu button!), plus it is a bit more flexible in terms of the options for setting exposure, I frequently only bracket 1.5 stops and that's not an option with the HDR feature. I'll either do that, or manually bracket as you can then preview the exposure and check the histogram of each shot individually as you take them which is more accurate. You don't get the JPEG preview, but I don't find that an issue! Thanks again! Sam.

So glad you got gorgeous light n colour at this location... corking images and loved the pano of Hannah's. Your image at the end was probably my fave of your although all were worthy of the place. Look forwardto the next epsiode. PS My lad sold his camera recently so I took the card out to see what he had on there and he hasn;'t really spent any time looking at the images - saw a great shot of the Wanaka Tree on his card and found so nice images of Milford Sound too although they were shot in daytime with blue shies. Made me a little jealous :) My eldest lad is currently is Cuzco (Peru) and will be trekking to Machu Pichu in te next week then heading South to Patagonia to do some trekking - ok for some eh? :)
@BosePhotography4 жыл бұрын
Ah wow, Peru then Patagonia? Those are both places high on our bucket list Alan, what a place to be visiting! Maybe one day, but not for a little while for us I think! Will your other son let you post his images anywhere? It would be lovely to see them. It was amazing to finally have some decent weather for Milford Sound, our luck finally turned on this visit. We spent 4 days in the area and chose to visit on the only day when there was a bit a of a break in the weather. It also turned out to be the only day when the road was open (they close it regulalrly due to avalanche risks) so it felt like such a relief to get these shots! We hope you had a really great Christmas and wish you a very happy new year Alan. Will you be at the photography show again this year? It would be nice to say hello again if you are there. S+H.

Beautiful photos. I'm visiting the NZ South Island in a couple of weeks, I can't wait to get my camera out and try and capture some of the NZ beauty :-)

Thank you very much Jillian! Ah how amazing, you'll be visiting at a much better time of year than when we went, I'm sure you will have an amazing time and I hope the weather is great for you! Milford Sound was stunning, but I would also highly recommend taking a tour of Doubtful Sound if you have the opportunity! Sam.

Thanks Julian, you should do it! It would be amazing to see your photos from here, what a stunning place! We hope you had a lovely Christmas and have a very happy 2020. Will you be heading to the photography show again this year? S.

I’m not sure about that Sam, as my new year resolution is to stop spending money on things I don’t need 🤔. We already have a climbing trip to Spain at Easter and a trip to Canada in the Autumn lines up so all our spare cash for the year is already spoken for. However, I certainly would like to catch up with you and Hannah some time, so will definitely keep in touch to arrange something.

Thank you for sharing your NZ experience with us. The location you were at was totally awesome. Have to admit though, my eye kept leaning towards that massive waterfall. Again, thanks for sharing, your images were beautiful and Hannah did a great job on the pano shot.

Thank you very much Jim! Yes, that waterfall would certainly have made a great image, have you seen Michael Shainblum's work from here? He shot that waterfall and did a much better job than I would have managed! We hope you have a fantasrtic year in 2020, and thank you for continuing to support our channel through 2019! Sam

Mate, what a belter of a shot at the end. Milford Sound is an amazing place. When I was there I flew in from Queenstown which was very exciting. I'd love to go back now that I a "photographer". Thanks for sharing! 👍👍

Thanks Julian! It was such an amazing place, that flight must have been amazing! For the four days we were staying in Te Anau, this was the only day that the road stayed open so we were so lucky to get this brief gap in the weather. I really hope you make it back there yourself someday! Sam.
