Ahhhhh, man… so many memories. Slow dancing in a school gym, satin tops, Farrah Fawcett hair & loads of AquaNet lol Our town had a teen disco; my husband never lets me live that down😂 Life was so much simpler… we just didn’t know it. I ordered some skates about 6mths ago! Turns out it’s NOT like riding a bike🤣 But I suspect the neighbors had a few good laughs. Thanks for the ride in your Time Machine!! Stay safe & love much💖

Barry Gibb did sing background and harmony on this track. His distinctive voice can clearly be heard. At the time, anything and everything by (or sounding like) the BeeGees was a big hit. Same thing happened with Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, and Michael McDonald to various degrees in later years. Destiny's Child also released a version of this song in 2001 and took it to #10 in the USA and #3 in the UK.

Samantha Sang was so lucky to have a Bee Gees written song gifted to her. The Bee Gees were on fire in the late 70's. The Bee Gees version is beautiful as well. Barry layered the background harmony in his amazing falsetto voice for Samantha Sang. Great reaction.

@@dp3396 I looked it up. Yvonne's version was released as a single the same month as the Bee Gees version was released on album. Both acts were under Robert Stigwood. The Bee Gees and Andy Gibb were ALL brothers and of the few, if only, who embraced funk, soul and R&B and we're successful for it. So, they prove no matter a person's skin color, it comes from within one's soul. You've got to appreciate their mark on the World their music left. No matter the skin color of listeners of their music, their music goes past color. Exhibit A.

I work at a TV station in my area and our radio counterpart was on three wings of our building on the second floor and the master control was in the fourth wing of the building. When radio was moving out they set a whole bunch of vinyl for the taking near the elevators and I found a copy of this album in pristine condition. There's no surface noise at all and I have a good turntable setup and it sounds phenomenal.

Yes, That is correct that Barry Gibb is the only one doing the background vocals. But since Maurice and Robin Gibb have passed away now most people consider Barry alone as the Bee Gees but that is not exactly true. Barry was always known for hitting the high notes very well in their songs and sometimes his voice kinda drowned out the other brothers voices occasionally.

The Bee Gees actually are the ones that wrote the song but Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees liked Samantha's voice on the lead vocals better so they decided to have her sing the lead vocals on the song. The Bee Gees did record their own version of this song but Samantha's version did the best on the music charts at the time. Samantha has other songs you may want to check out also but I don't think those were big hits like this song. It's known as kinda a slow dance disco song. Thanks again.

Definitely backing vocals. I've never seen this video. The Gibbs brothers wrote a lot of songs for other artists that people don't realize. It's only the ones they actually did a version of that you think, what a second, lol. Example, Yvonne Elliman did "If I Can't Have You" for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. The Bee Gees have their version as well (b-side of Stayin Alive) but Yvonne's was used in the movie. (Our Love) Don’t Throw It All Away was written by Barry and the Bee Gees recorded it for the SNF soundtrack but it didn't make the cut. Andy did his version of it for his debut album and then the Bee Gees released their version on their greatest hits album a year later.
