Here's Samart Payakaroon, the greatest of all time in Muay Thai, on my work. I knew that when I took a stand for the Petrosyan vs. Petchmorakot controversy, some people would transfer their feelings and attack me. I am OK with that because I'm standing for what I believe in. With the heads of Muay Thai and Kickboxing going head to head, it was TERRIBLE for the sport... all the while the crowd was going after ONE, which is both sports best hope... especially in Asia. I stood up because I'm tired of the takedown culture so popular nowadays. Given the circumstances, this was NOT fair, extremely damaging to all parties, and certainly scary to jump into the mix. Luckily, most people are reasonable, were very positive, and agreed with the review. Nonetheless, it brought out some hate that I'd like to address. If it wasn't clear enough... let me clarify it: I am here to help the growth of Muay Thai and Kickboxing. Above all else, I care about the unity of the sport. I have stood up for multiple controversies before, even if it went against my self interest. If you're curious, you can do a simple investigation and make sense of it yourself. The most common criticism I've gotten since the Petrosyan vs. Petchmorakot review that this is just a "KZbin channel." Yup, this is just a KZbin channel... one that is lucky to have a huge community standing behind it. I am truly lucky to be supported by the biggest legends in MMA, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai. Most of my heroes have given me tremendous support, and many of them long before I featured them. I actually get so many comment based testimonials that it's very hard to keep track of it anymore... and FYI, I have no sponsor and no boss. I am just lucky to have great friends and supporters. My true inspiration has always been Joe Rogan, who singlehandedly made positive impact on so many people's lives around the world. He was the reason I made the first video. And now, I get thousands of messages every week thanking me for my contribution to martial arts. At the end of the day, all I want is Muay Thai and Kickboxing to grow... for people to love it as much as I do. I hope I can keep serving you for a long time to come. Thank you for all the support you've given me... we're just getting started! By the way, did you know Samart was once so hated by his people that he had to go into hiding?... how appropriate, but that's a story for another time.

Focusing on the essential and highlighting it with live ring footage of the legends in the sport is not just educational for nak muay and coaches but schools also new and old fans what to look as a spectator. Thanks for bringing substance to the subject and looking forward to your upcoming videos.

Lawrence I don't know what the controversy you're mentioning is all about, but my favorite fighter of all-time, and probably a ton of older Thai-boxing fans' favorite and revered fighter of all-time, just gave you, in my eyes, the hugest nod any credible person in the sport could've given you. I think what you mentioned is a minor pebble to trip over on your otherwise huge road you've paved for the community of fight/combat sport fans. New fans consistently discover you and thank you because they're like me, a huge fan of the kickboxing world that feels that NO "westerner" ever took much heed to, given any attention to, understood, and would even share what they knew about the sport. I've been on KZbin since 2006 searching far and wide for ANY old Thai fights, let alone any notable trainers who would share any fight film study or breakdowns. That took years before we started seeing uploaders finally sharing what they know and disseminated in old western-boxing footage. Some even took to MMA. But NO one wanted to have anything to do with kickboxing or Muay Thai. And to be honest, that's all I, or a huge community ever wanted to see. But that'd be asking too much for any native-English speaker to be able to produce and create content for a sport on the other side of the planet in a completely foreign country/culture. But then you came on the scene and not only gave us good quality production and content, but invaluable knowledge and history of Thai/Kick fighting that was soon to be lost im history/popularity. Probably for good. Because of you, millions of new fans for Muay Thai are more properly educated on true Thai and kickboxing technique and beloved history that won't get lost and buried in time, and KZbin's archives and algorithms that seemingly only feature and provide video links to videos on and only after 2014. Fans and people really taking trainin seriously now have a much more profound respect and love for the craft and see it as more than "just boxing with some legal elbows and knees and kicks" like it generally viewed as. I know you get a million thank-you's but I can't stress enough how much you've given to us on your free time. Remember Barry Robinson? Legendary uploader and film study analyst. The difference is you never stopped and to this day you still consistently push content out of passion, not out of a need for profit or momentary thank-you's. That's why you're still the most revered kickboxing and Thai-boxing analyst on the Internet. Not only because of your knowledge and production and talented observatory skills. But because your passion and hard work is second to none. Thank you.
I love the overlaid video game style graphics on the old fights. It could have easily been OTT and ruined it. But they are just right.

Lawrence I like your work and that is why I subscribed. But I am sad to see this. I don't know if my comment was the one that made you put this video. I would like to apologize if it was my comment but I am really really sad. Sorry bro but this is too much... You don't use a Legend like this... When a legend says something good about you then you should keep it as a blessing... not boast around for whatever purpose it might be. You should be able to take criticism sometimes... Otherwise disable the comment section. And I don't think my comment on that Petrosyan video as criticism at all. Sorry, if I was you, I'd keep making videos and move forward and not upload this video, I would keep this videos for personal at times when I feel really down in life. From culture where I come from, if I was a success like you, uploading this video would be considered very low thing. You take care. (PS: If you watch JRE then I don't know how you missed him stress again and again about not to get upset or carried away by public comments on so social media platforms for your own health).. Anyways.

@@LawrenceKenshin No disrespect to you or anything. Just the expression of the video, it would be great if he said it clearly "It's really insightful videos" or something. Right now it's just "It's good that youtubers show old legends. And foreigners can learn from them. Thai people don't need it"

I don't understand why he says thai will just watch and enjoy, and foreigner will understand it deeper, as if thai were dumb or something. Lawrence, I wanted to let you know there is a need for you to justify your credentials to absolutely no one. Any martial artist who understands fundamentals in any form or style should understand that it takes HOURS of analyzing fight footage to identify the information you want to convey in the most direct manner to your audience; and what you do is no easy task. It is easy to make a video about yourself with yourself as the "main star", so to speak. Your message via KZbin has been a brilliant medium to which martial artists from all over the globe can connect and get better, especially for those of us who cannot afford the money or time to get to a gym out in town. For you to do this pro bono, and the attention to detail shows diligence and passion. We can all agree to disagree about the Petch vs Petro fight, but it takes a truly humble person to take an objectively realistic look at why this channel exists. Keep marching forward and continue to exercise what is passionate for you; for some of us only wish we can actualize our own passions. ~ Semper Fi

@@LawrenceKenshin just to add further I have taken concepts and techniques directly from your channel and applied them in training not even hours later - often to great effect. You explain extremely high level individual techniques and meta concepts in a manner that gives them basic form and substance. This is the hallmark of a great teacher. Someone that makes something very complicated very easy to understand. You explain not only how but why.
@PRSer5 жыл бұрын
It's absolutely laughable for anyone to get angry about disagreeing with you and putting you down. Anything you put on your channel is your own view and analysis of a fight, fighter or technique. And it is a legitimate well educated and analysed form of information that you are spreading. Endorsed personally by most of the fighters and people in the sport like you have mentioned. Furthermore, you provide it for free on this platform. If Samart GOAT approves of you, the haters can suck it! I wasn't even aware that the Petrosyan vs Petch fight was an issue with so many people. It wasn't a career ending loss to Petrosyan neither was it a super defining win for Petch. It's the same situation if the results were reversed. The fight was a weird confusing mix of bad reffing and the fighters just doing what they thought was the right thing at that point. It still ended up as a great fight that people mostly enjoyed. Keep up the awesome work!

I'd like to talk about your content being insulted as "just a KZbin channel". Here are the things that KZbin channels have done for me: 1.- Cured my GERD, when no other doctor could. 2.- Got me to work my upper body again in the gym, when doctors said my bone spur near my front deltoid wouldn't allow it. (Therefore, got me boxing again) 3.- Got me to work my lower body again in the gym after a broken meniscus in one knee and a broken ligament in the other. 4.- Got my insulin resistance under control without requiring medication. 5.- Gave me a learning resource for the peekaboo style, absolutely necessary for me since I am 5'5 living in a country where I spar with 6' tall people. 6.- Introduced me to channels like these, where you'll learn fighting in a depth that most coaches won't want to go into. Some people don't understand that KZbin is today's Library of Alexandria, and that people like you are the future of knowledge. Just let idiots be idiots. Those of us who are constantly in and out of a ring, testing the info you provide, we know how high your quality is. Stay awesome. The Great Vlad Klitschko said: "the great thing about chess is that no one thinks they are an expert, but everyone wants to play. The bad thing about boxing (or all contact sports) is that everyone thinks they are an expert, but nobody wants to play".
