@@sgtfreako67 I'm looking into buying one. How is the drive compared to a newer 8 speed transmission? Is it even that big of a deal? I mean, it's still insanely fast...
@AndrewHosford4 жыл бұрын
Strange, my 2010 X5M has 4 piston front calipers from the factory and had plenty of stopping power at the track. Ya, they're still standard non-drilled, non-slotted, non-ceramic rotors, but I never had much issues with brake fade even after 30-40 min track sessions. The front rotors and pads are gigantic. As far as the transmission goes, it's not quite as fast as the newer ZF 8 speeds, or the older twin clutches, but I much prefer a standard automatic for daily driving. Chicago stop and go traffic is NOT good for a twin clutch since the only way for it to "creep" in slow traffic is for the computer to slip the clutch. Considering most owners will track this car once (I've only done so twice in the 5 years I've owned it), I'd much rather have the auto for daily driving than the few tenths of a seconds I'd be able to shed on track times, the one or two times it ever sees a track with a twin clutch. The only real issue I've had with mine is excessive tire noise, and a harsher ride than the standard X5, even with the stock tires. First off, they're run flats so they're going to ride harsher, but secondly, they're also ENORMOUS, 275 front, 315-325 rear, so they do create a lot of tire noise as they wear. Going from a worn set to a brand new set is an insane different in noise levels, but they get pretty bad as they age. But, I just turn up my radio, and that problem takes care of itself :) That exhaust sounds awesome though. They definitely don't sound that good from the factory.
@gritsgong5 жыл бұрын
I have the same car. 1. The trunk will close automatically if you press the button again. 2. The big brakes are stock. It's stock on mine. 3. It's very fast but it's a gas hog. Consider the car a 4wheel drive M5.

We picked up a used 2013 X5 with 73,000 on it. Since we’ve had it (about three months) the sunroof is messed up, the iDrive screen constantly turns all red whenever it wants to which makes using the radio or phone or navigation almost impossible, and an oil filter housing gasket has needed replacing costing us over $900 from the mechanic.
