Love it. Just a note, the EGR system isn't what you would normally think it is from the name. It supplies cool oxygen-free air to the cylinders during part throttle and stops ping on tip-in when going down the highway. It doesn't use enough exhaust gas to clean the exhaust, it takes advantage of the exhaust being oxygen free. As you can see though it causes weird problems when it doesn't function properly.

I had a 600 SL for 15 years. a marvellous car, 1 of only 160 in the UK. The only real issue is with the air suspension, but mine was trouble free. You can get a set of lowering "levers" and set the car much lower, it is dead easy to do, just set a lower level and keep position 2 or 3 for ground clearance. Another good modification is to remove the rear exhaust boxes and replace with straight pipes, stainless steel. It will then sound like a proper supercar, accelerate quicker, but best of all it will do many more miles to the gallon. I had mine done at a custom exhaust maker, it only cost UK £160.00. Well worth it. Advice, do not try to update the entertainment system with a Chinese modern one!

Great finding and job. :) Yes, aluminum rims are notorious for oxidizing once the paint has come off. Most of them are powder-coated and will chip off once moisture has got to the metal. I had several such issues and the only way to deal with it is to take off the tire and restore them by grinding and painting. You can make a quick and dirty solution by deflating, grinding, and painting it over. However, I prefer to dismount the tire completely and start from scratch.

I turned them into smoke as fast as possible and went back to good tires. Cool on the Benz- I used to pick up early 2000's Land Rovers that people misdiagnosed. Did dozens of them. Best was a $2000 "smoked engine" on an 03 Discovery with 61K miles that was really only the throttle body heater for $30. Got a mint 26K mile P38 Range rover for $650 with a "bad engine" and did head gaskets- $600 in parts and some time. SO many were misdiagnosed, I made a fortune off them. Hot dang, getting a nice car with the m113 v8 for that money is pretty good. I have an s class with the m112 cousin engine. Unfortunately I have weird issue where fuel is getting into the EVAP system (filling the charcoal canister with fuel). Other than that, the m112, m113 and the 5 speed mercedes box of the day are unbeatable.

This is great stuff Sam!! I wish I had deals like this here in Phoenix that I could buy without a dealer license!

Don't really want to spoil the surprise Sam, but when you wave that auction paper around at about 21:28 you can see Range Rover HSE disclosed at top right.

I bet Step Mom got a kick out of the original sticker price. She'd look good driving this R rated MB.

Sam's video narratives have really improved since his stepmother started the new lessons. 😊

I feel like Mercedes always plays down the power on their cars lol, they even do this with their electric cars. They'll say the range is like 250 or 270 and people will end up getting 320 miles of range. Both of these Mercs would be a dream

I picked up a 2003 Mercedes E55 with 85K about 5 years ago from my local Chevrolet dealer for $5K out the door. ONE owner, older lady, all service records from the local Mercedes deal included. It was a great car, drove it for a year and flipped it doubling my money. Wished have kept it.

“Older” ladies drive rwd supercharged cars? Is that what they told you 🤔

@dariodjakovic1600 I talked to her before I purchased. She said she bought it because she thought it was the "prettiest car at the Mercedes dealership." She had no idea about the power or anything. She just liked it, plus she was 15 years or so younger at the time she got it.

Has anyone noticed that Sam looks like ‘Roy the bastard’ from IT Crowd when he has his shades on?

I have onet 2006 with I think just a little over 35000 miles. A few years after he bought it became ill and eventually passed away in 2013 for a while I was driving on weekends here and there but I just could never get over the fact that I would smell her every time I got in the car and her perfume even though it's so faint. It's been sitting under the cover for the last 3 years

If you have issue after issue with an older car and paying $150-200 per hour for labour doing repairs its easy to understand why people do not chase issues with their vehicle. My old car i had 4 repairs that cost me $500+ for each repair doing it myself and then the electrical gremlins intermitantly stopped my wipers from working making me throw in the towel on that car. I miss that car but the one i got is a great car that *knock on wood* has had no real issues in the 6 1/2 years i have had it
