I think Nike needs a dedicated glide shot (but also fine for rotational shot and discus, although not hammer/weight) throwing shoe, which would have a wider toe box and less curvature side-to-side both across the ball of the foot and across the heel. This would offer the thrower more lateral balance and stability when pushing off from the back of the circle. Better balance and lateral stability will translate to better aligned forces and more consistent performances.

they have both been out of stock for a month or two. i would like to get the lower cost Rival SD2, likely in an 8. is there a way to get alerted when it is back in stock?

This late in the US High School season and with several brands still have supply chain issues it will be hard to find and Nike SDs, will we not get our next stocking orders until Nov 23 just before the indoor season starts up again.

Regarding the Rival SD 2...how is the fit? I wear a 10.5 in my running shoes which gives me a bit of room ahead of the toe. I know these are supposed to fit more snugly. Do you think a 10 or a 10.5?

10.5 or 11.0, the SD runs narrow for a throw shoe, do not go down in size from your running shoes.

Can these be worn leisurely, for everyday wear ?. Or is the outsole not suitable for daily wear/walking on surfaces. And in terms of how snug the fit is, with the midlock forefoot strap, how tight do they run. Thanks

Nike SD's will run 1/2 size small so size up, they do not offer lateral stability as the sole is curved so they would no be recommended for street wear.

No, the narrow curved sole does not offer lateral stability or a wide platform for squats, deadlifts, or Olympic lifts. They would HIGHLY NOT be recommended for weightlifting.

Sold out in most sizes in the US, in Nike.com does not have them then you will have to try the "grey market" resellers, VS Athletics will not have stock until Oct/Nov 2023

Hey, thanks for the review of both products. Could these be an option or deadlifting shoes? Im looking for a 0 drop simple shoe from Nike. These seem to be similar to other DL shoes in the market but just curious. Thanks!

I would not recommend using any Throw shoe for Deadlift. The curvature of the sole could create ankle instability, either rolling in or out, which would be an injury at heavy loads. Metcons are close to 0 drop for Nike. Converse is owned by Nike and Chucks Allstars are close to 0 drop.

Yes but rotation will not be as fast as the Nike Zoom Rotational or Adidas Throws

Beginner thrower should look the SD or Rival SD. Textured sole gives more control in rotation throws and is built for the glide technique.

For glide technique I prefer the rival sd. For rotational technique the rotationals are better
