I am amazed at how perfect your stance looks on each shot! Maybe the best I have ever seen of all the archers I follow! I keep trying, but can't come close to the same exact stance!!!!

Thanks Joe. I suppose I was doing something fairly consistent as the arrows were hitting fairly consistent. The bow had 30# limbs that day, and that lower weight really helps with working on form.

Great vid Shane! I just got my discovery two days ago and am very happy with it. I set mine up with the hoyt satori strike plate, and with a little modification it worked out great. I just uploaded a vid about the bow and showed the strike plate if you're curious.

Nice makeshift 'Berger Button' side plate. I was thinking about converting my Cartel riser to shoot off the shelf but it's flat as flat can be so not sure if I can get that working. I like the shot angle you have set up in this video, you have a good solid stance. Nice group from twenty yards too!
@shanepitzer41263 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Might be a little tougher on that flat shelf target riser, but you could build it up if you got creative. i slid a strip of leather under the velcro on my shelf, just to give it a slightly higher point even though it has an arc to it. I try to find an angle to include shooter and target, then either a second camera close up on the target, or abiity to zoom in on target. Nothing fancy, but it does take some thought to work it out.

I bought my Discovery back in January of '21, been shooting it since April. I bought it with the medium 45# foam core carbon limbs. When I got the bow, I noticed on the edge of the limbs there was very small pitting, ~1mm in size. Carbon limbs are new to me, I was wondering if anyone else experienced this? Interesting conversation on rests and side plates. When I was finally able to get out and shoot this bow, I put Gorilla tape on the shelf and plate and haven't changed it yet. Shoots great.
@shanepitzer41263 жыл бұрын
I'm also new to carbon/foam limbs. I'm using the Samick R3 limbs purchased from Alternative Archery. I have accumulated four sets of limbs (30#, 35#, 40#, 45#) and use them on the Discovery, and a 21" Satori riser. I've also noted some minor imperfections here and there , but I don't think they affect function or noise. That's interesting using the Gorilla Tape.

You shoot really good... btw. I donno if your using gap or point of arrow... or strictly instinctive. I have several metal risers that are cut way back.... a 19" Trad Tec. Titan 3... a Hoyt Tiburon 19" and I'm wanting the 100% Carbon Black Wolf ....which is cut the same way. The risers I already have... I use the NAP Flipper rest. Kind of the same kind, but a little different than you use. Mine compute... to a elevated rest. When 1 of my rest failes.... I'm gonna try your trick.. to get me back on the shelf. I myself.. am trying to learn purely instinctive. There is no target panic with that, because your not thinking about the gap or your arrow point location and trying to time your release. You just pick a spot... trying to get your site picture right---holding still and letting the shot happen.... (Rick Welch Style)
@shanepitzer41263 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I've been at this now for a little over two years. Got a late start. I'm now 60. Anyhoo, I started out trying to gap shoot, and evolved into an instinctive style. I focus on the target, but I see my arrow in my peripheral vision, and let my subconscious decide when to release. Like most of us, I have some days better than others. I really do enjoy this stuff. Glad you enjoy the vid, and thanks for your comments.

Shane are you using a piece of leather under the limb bolts? I was thinking of using something to stop the marring where the limbs touch the bolts.
@shanepitzer41263 жыл бұрын
Yes I did put leather pads on a couple sets of the limb bolts. The 30# limbs in this vid do have the leather pads.

@shanepitzer41263 жыл бұрын
@@chriswalinski8919 You bet. What I did was cut leather pieces from the back of a worn out leather work glove, and used some two-part epoxy to glue it on the limb.
@flyfish64733 жыл бұрын
@@shanepitzer4126 This may be a stretch, but I'm curious, do you have the limb bolts fully screwed down so the limbs are at max draw weight? If so, with the leather on the limbs have you noticed if the bow shoots more quiet? Same question if you've tillered the limbs.
@shanepitzer41263 жыл бұрын
@@flyfish6473 The limb bolts are all the way in. I'm not sure if it is louder with them out. At on point I adjusted to a positive tiller on top of about 1/8", to account for a three-under draw. I don't think I'm a good enough archer to tell the difference though.

Shane, if i am right, you own the Discovery and also the Satori. Whats the main difference of these two risers dependig on quality?
@shanepitzer41263 жыл бұрын
Yes I have both. 17" Discovery, and 21" Satori. Quality-wise I would sat they are very much equal. The Discovery has a nicer and more durable anodized finish, where the Satori seems like a paint of some sort, maybe Duracoat? Both are CNC machined.

How do you get your internet connection there and how are the speeds? Looks like you're standing in front of a picture. :) I've been playing with a stick on wire rest on my Discovery. Put a berger button from my vintage 1986 compound on it too. Still like shooting the Satori off the shelf better though.
@shanepitzer41263 жыл бұрын
We get internet via satellite dish. It's not terribly fast. It takes about an hour to upload a 10 minute video when our high speed allowance is available. When speed is restricted, it would take several hours, so I don't even try. I like shooting my Satori off the shelf too, I just use the issued side-plate setup. Seems to work well.
