Anyone complaining about sound.. this is all audio from cell phones. Also, Hagar is 76 years old. Many humans have trouble walking by the time they're 76. Satriani doesn't sound like Eddie. NOBODY DOES. If they did, Eddie would be out there but unfortunately he's not alive anymore. Lastly, if you think Satriani isn't good, just remember.. however good you are (or think you are), you are not 1/100 of the player he is.

What is most important about this tour, is a tribute to the greatest guitarist of our generation. Joe’s not going out of his way to try and be Ed at all. It’s another great guitar player paying homage. Sam and Mike deserve this regardless of what any critics think or say.

This is fu**ing joyful, that music being performed live again. A great energy. No-one wanted an Eddie Clone up there doing this, all we'd notice is the mistakes. This is a brilliant celebration of some great music, and great musicians in their Twilight years. It won't be long before you 'can't get this stuff no more'. Sure, Pete Thorn or Phil X could have done this more like Eddie, but be honest, when you watch all those Phil X and Pete Thorn gigs where they do VH covers, does it make you feel any different to seeing a regular VH tribute that you can see anytime?

One things for sure Ed was not a shredder and played with less gain, saturation and distortion so his sound was much clearer, warmer and fatter sounding than Joes.

Not sure if you play guitar but ed's amps have tons of gain. Also Ed started the whole shred movement not that he wanted to. Nobody will ever be Ed. I think Satriani is doing a great job of playing tribute to Ed. I know I will see them when they come to town.

@@starblaster77 I am 61 been playing since I was 11, I love Satriani and Ed, Ed just baked his tubes with a variac, big difference in tone, less saturated and processed. Shawn Lane at 16 with Black Oak Arkansas was a shredder, he could do things nobody could in the late 70's, just because you never heard of him doesn't mean we didn't and he influenced many California guys, and David Lee ripped off the singer Jim Dandy.

Even on the 95, 98, and 2004 tour’s with peaveys his tone was gainy and not even close to what it was before

@@knightfall9394 you're correct I stopped listening to VH when Sammy replaced Dave, I heard the Van Hagar stuff on the radio and that's it, his sound was to processed to me, in the old days his tone was warm and woody and he had to find the sweet spot just to get a note to feedback unlike Satriani who could get any note to feedback and sustain from anywhere. A shredder would never play an amp like Ed did in the early days where the notes will die on the vine, guys like Satch can't pull off their licks without sustain, and to get sustain you gotta kill some tone.
