Sammy "The Bull" Gravano revealed an incident where John Gotti was beaten by a black inmate due to Gotti's racist comments during a prison gambling game. Following the fight, Gotti allegedly resorted to paying the Aryan Brotherhood for protection, and even attempted to contract a hit on the black inmate who had beaten him. Gravano said Gotti offered to pay the gang $25,000 to carry out the killing, and manipulated the use of the money from inside the prison. He also mentioned that if Gotti had failed to pay, the gang would likely have severely beaten him.

Never heard that Gotti was gambling. I heard Gotti was walking, black dude was walking in the opposite direction, and Gotti told the guy 'Get the f--- outta my way n------, you know who the f---- I am?!' Dude waited until they were both out on the yard the next day and went straight up to Gotti and beat the brakes off the day-go. That's when Gotti ran to the ABs. There was also word that the ABs set the whole thing up. Law enforcement said that they may have immediately conspired with the black guy after Gotti insulted him for him to attack Gotti the next day because Gotti initially used them as bodyguards and then stopped paying them when he felt he had enough Italians around him. After Gotti got his guinea azz publicly beaten he went running right back to the ABs for protection. They agreed to off the black guy for Gotti but they may have never really intended to follow through with it.
