Bay tuna | Catch and Cook...sort of

G'day Legends! I head out chasing Bay Tuna to do a catch and cook!
Luckily there was a few line burners around I got some sick rod bending action!

I got my first long tail a few weeks ago and I don’t know how many people I have told but I’ll say it again. They are EASILY the most underrated fish in the ocean for both eating and fighting. So far we have had sushimi, cooked it in butter Asian style, made a curry with it and each time it taste better then the last. Would trade 2 Spanish for a feed of that tuna.

Was that today or Saturday mate? Went down to the port to head out Saturday morning about 3:30am and when I got to the ramp I realise my trailer post had sheered straight off from rust 🤷‍♂️ buggers me why but not good when you take the back strap of because I didn’t realise it was snapped and it nearly rolled off the rollers. It doesn’t help when it’s 5.3 and 1.4 wide. 😩😩😩 very interesting morning mate 😂

That’s not sashimi Sammy. It’s cooked in the lemon so more like civichie. Long tail is great raw sliced thin with a bit of soy and jap mayo and wasabi tho. You got a lot of Mack tuna using the metal slug but try using a stick bait 130-150 length will attract more long tail and discourage the mackies. Pink is a good colour to start with. Tight lines mate

Mick Livin hey mate, I was using a 90mm stickbait. After the first longtail I changed to my normal tuna stickies but they were being super fussy. Couldn’t even get a follow on the larger sticks and the splash from them was sending the tuna down. So changed back to the 90mm. Check out my other longtail video if you get a chance. They were all caught on bigger stickbaits 👌👍
