I’m Samoan and we use to do the haka all the time when sent someone off, at a birthday or event similar. Nothing wrong with being Another culture and expressing your kiwi side with a hakas. we grew up doing watching rugby and playing rugby here in NZ. Cos for some of us it’s the only thing we have to honour our homeland when u come from the islands. Everyone chill. Freedom of speech to all. All maoris feeling disrespected look on the bright side, they could be mocking ur shit and talking down on you guys, but instead they on the other side of the planet spreading their love for ur culture Atleast be proud of that. Cos as a Samoan if I seen a black/white/Asian/middle eastern or whatever do something of my culture, instead of judging I would be proud! Judge all u want, but I know a lot of maoris that don’t have the balls to get up and do a haka in public like that. So props to these guys for trying something their not use to, but do it anyways Cos they know the true meaning of a haka and the impact it has on others.

It’s disrespectful to Samoan and Māori culture to perform something that isn’t ours just because we see it in the Rocks movies. Typical American born Samoans so out of touch with your own culture you need to learn it off the movies smh. We don’t have anything called “haka” in Samoa. And the way they’re performing whatever it is that they’re performing is completely inconsistent with both the Samoan and Māori way.

People, if you guys think these are samoans, and they are doing the cultural dance, its called a siva tau. Siva tau is the name for the samoa cultural dance. Please it is not called the samoa haka. Im just clearing it out since some people say its the samoa haka. Thank you😊
I'm confused with what the american polys identify as samoan or poly in general ? Here in Aus we would see that as the Maori haka but the men are clearly Samoan. I tend to see that alot of american polys seem to do different variations of the haka and say its wherever they're from. but down here you have the hamos do the Sivi tau, tongans do the sipi tau, Fijians the cibi , kiwis obviously haka etc and the distinctions tend to be clear. No disrespect just curious, happy to be schooled by someone on here lol
@tuhuster4 жыл бұрын
Jason Lotoaniu we know that’s the Maori culture here in NZ and Australia. It’s a Maori Haka for a reason because they feel the words that they are saying. Samoan and Tongans shouldn’t do the haka because they feel like it. Respect other cultures.
