He was so paranoid about being robbed that he boarded up the lower level of his house and used a ladder through a second story window to get in and out. One night, a gang of thieves decided to rob him and after getting in through that window expecting him to be asleep, found him very much awake as he as so paranoid that he stayed up guarding the window. Apparently only a few of them left his estate and no one knows what happened to the rest.

Interesting Fact about Dancer, his estate was left to a lady known as Lady Tempest. Lady Tempest a countess who took care of him and aided him after the death of his sister and she had one child with her husband Henry Vane, and that child was a lady called Frances Anne Vane-Tempest. The 'anne' came from her mother, the 'Vane' from her father, and the 'Tempest' from her fathers uncle, but her birth name was Frances. She would have several grandchilden, one of which was Winston Churchill. There is a very real possibility that some of the money Daniel was hoarding away, would be inherited later down the line and used to fund Winston's Political Campaign, which would see him to power, and see Britian triumph against the Nazi's. Call it a long shot, but that money may have been pretty well spent indeed :)

The average American has anywhere from 3 to 9k in credit card debt. A majority of middle class people have credit card debt. Cars can be bought with cash. But people like to buy a brand new car that they can't afford (in cash or in payments). So they get ridiculously long loans I've seen 7 to 8 years being advertised. The average car payment has shot up to over $550 per month. Brand new cars typically loose 50% in value in its first 4 years. In 2 years it looses about 1/3 of its value. So buy a brand new car is an absolute money pit. You might as well throw money in a fire. Houses ill give you most people dont own their homes. A 15 year mortgage is acceptable. You also have to think about things like cell phones. People buy their phones on contract alot. They get 2 year plans they have to pay for. Then people have school loans that cost a lot. It is possible to pay for school but that is one of the hardest things to do. So loans maybe necessary. But people take forever to pay them back. The average american doesn't attack debt they embrace it.
