Crazy thing is my father says very similar stuff and what he does is keep the money in the business and the region especially depending on sector, considering in totality what money is, honestly should be illegal for me to use my business as a piggy bank or take more than the salary I agreed to based on work. Now my dad's been around a lot longer and if he did it the traditional route we're talking well over multi but apparently breaking the bond of trust between him and his people when the money was given with the belief it would yield benefit, the words don't matter it's their belief. You either do your best to help them or don't take the money, taking it as a bonus is eternity frozen behind judas, the newest addition to Cocytus' frozen lake in the lowest circle of Hell. Seen it happen with a another person at his show way before culture war. However much more issue I take is the only three people I guess I know were trans were due to finally allowing them to put them all on umbrella medical coverage, since a struggling family going into debt trying to help their kid to me is not cool. I only found out when they thanked me recently. There are so few trans people in the US, that every Democrat who loves trans people supposedly can get them umbrella medical coverage and it not impact their wealth. It's aways the need of a inflammatory talking point to upset people to donate. Politicians are a bleak bunch but if you're trans look into the laws in Signapore and see how they have been in place since 1972 and there is no negative issues, no change in number, etc since these idiot propogandists are so asinine they won't even give concrete info to argue self-worth on. Yep. In a business I own I agree to a set salary and all my employees know each others and mine salaries. No one really needs hr at a small size under 500 employees even. Sometimes my employees will make way more than me but if you check the work done, they have worked way more than me too. I'm not sure when CEO bonuses started but excess money is supposed to be invested into the business or community surrounding that business morally and logically. Taking that money and doing anything else with it is the act of usury, in Islam they call it Riba, it is prohibited under Sharia law to ensure equity in commerce. It seems every religion over a thousand years has this one in different names but same severity. Yes even in Judaism, the older text of course. Only ones that don't have it are the ones with the cannibalistic rituals and Mormonism. Mormonism isn't old enough to decide if it's a bad idea I guess but the cannibalism causes Kuru and just like mad cow human version mad cow is incurable and fatal.

I respectively disagree. Don’t get me wrong, unions are good and co ops are preferable but neither pose a long term solution to problems we face under capitalism. Check out Luxemburg “reform or revolution” chapter 7 (I think) on co ops, unions, and democracy. I concur with her but in short workers in co ops are obliged to take on the role of capitalist entrepreneur. If the workers interest become dominant they end by dissolving. Why? competition, the market, it is still domination of capital over the process of production. Again, if you’re interested in a leftist counter view check out Rosa Luxemburg. She goes into more depth on the topic.

@@shreddiekrueger359 I have great respect for Rosa Luxemburg, but she passed in 1919 and would have NO idea the power of the financial sector and Internet, so the strategy for system change has to have many aspects, not JUST worker co-ops, but worker co-ops should be a part of it. Smart worker co-ops, however. And worker co-ops as not-for-profit and networked with several businesses the town needs, so they are ready for a socialist revolution into a communist evolution. A huge part is mutual aid networks, time-banking, library socialism and direct democracy and reclaiming the commons. The people will not have enough money and means of production if they stay in small neighbourhood subsistence farming. They need to gain access to the means of production, use automation to reduce need for human labour and hours, reduce the work week and show the new way forward. @OddWoz yeah we had an old couple do it together in a park down the street from me because they got diagnosed. They were the parents of my coworkers wife, and the guy was so messed up because of it. Took a few of his shifts so he could take care of his family, and they could grieve. Right after the holidays, too, just terrible. With the increasing amount of carcinogens and plastics in everything, it's sadly going to get even more common unless things start changing for the better. The cost of treatment really needs to be regulated, and health care needs to be a right, not a privilege, so people can win against cancer and live for decades knowing if it comes back they can fight it again. Debt is pure unapologetic evil, the way our gov tosses them aside is disgusting.

The only reason billionaires exist is because the public at large has no realistic sense of scale. We now have multi-billionaires and nobody thinks anything of it, but there is no occupation or profession on this planet that is worth that much money. The only way it can be achieved is through the exploitation of the working class. To get a sense of scale, to receive 1 billion dollars, you would need to be paid $1,000 a day for 2,737 years, 10 months and 7 days. That's a ridiculous amount of money for a single person to have, existing within the same society as homeless vets and poverty at every level. The scam they engineered to provide cover are charities. Charities exist solely as a mechanism to move money around and avoid taxation, that give the appearance of addressing problems that are never permanently fixed, that wouldn't exist if we simply had more realistic and equitable taxation of the wealthy. Why does the Wounded Warrior Project exist? Why is there a charity that relies on public donations to provide prosthetic limbs to disabled vets? Because our military budget doesn't care about vets. It serves defense contractors. And that's why we spend more than the next ten biggest militaries combined and haven't passed an audit at the Pentagon in half a century. Americans need to start understanding the ridiculous scale of wealth we allow and the exploitation of labor we ignore that provides it.
@Code_Dee

For real, it's hard to even wrap your mind around how much more a billion is than even a million. I think now that we have people rich enough to launch themselves into space for fun I think people kind of get it. Most republicans I talk to are not fans of the rich, and if you talk to them it's not difficult to get them to agree we need higher taxes on the super rich. Problem is republicans are also pretty frickin racist; they believe the hype about "migrant crime" and vote based on that, and whether or not the president will let them buy ammo through the mail.

Look up the different concepts and see for yourself even. Every single religion past a 1000 years. Only ones that don't have it are the ones with the cannibalistic rituals and Mormonism. Mormonism isn't old enough to decide if it's a bad idea I guess but the cannibalism causes Kuru and just like mad cow human version mad cow is incurable and fatal.

But the masses voice is muted by corporate media and corporate politicians. It makes us seem crazy like we are different from our fellow man and woman. But we are more the same. Same basic needs; Housing, food, water, care, etc. What makes us different, our skills and interests are the diversity that should be our strength, not exploited for filthy profit by the capitalists. So, I try to remind people "Think global, act local." Be aware what is going on in the world, but then act local. Don’t sleep on Theo von. He’s exactly the type to give someone the opportunity to sell or defeat themselves to the typical small town American. He’s sweet, honest, funny, and open. Not the most articulate but can make the connections for others. Super relatable guy. And not afraid to deviate from Joe Rogan yet respectful when he deviates.and hilarious as he does it. Invite him on just to enjoy him. He’s a good guy. I wanted to write him off book the Joe Rogan association but he’s altogether a good guy.

I was annoyed at the end with the first message Emma read that stated Theo has some bad views on the trans community, and maybe he is not a good person to be airing on this program, like bro, this is talking about economics and monetary policy. We can't expect everyone to be experts _and_ generalists. This was a good segment that stayed on topic and hopefully can show people how "scary liberals" aren't the caricatures that less educated pundits like to paint, specifically about economic policy.

I agree. You can win people over with common ground. It's actually something that annoys me sometimes with emma, matt lech, and to a lesser degree, Sam. They sometimes do the same thing and burn bridges that could otherwise be mended through common ground. It is easier to convince people on all kinds of subjects when you first highlight your shared ideals and lessen the hostility.

I don’t get what your point is? Theo has egregious views on trans people, and has hosted people who hold all out genocidal opinions on them. Are you saying those views shouldn’t be criticised? I fear if the left becomes tolerant of said anti-trans views, trans people will genuinely become politically displaced and dispossessed, as there will be no side advocating for their civil rights.

@@skippy277 yeah no one watched that show. I didn’t even know he was on a sitcom until he mentioned it in an interview decades later. I think you’re thinking of “Joey” from Friends. Fear Factor was primetime network cable television at its peak. UFC was still pay-per-view back then, they didn’t even broadcast old fights. Tank Abbot was still a thing. No internet, no social media, laptops and google were in their infancy. They were just starting to build networks between banks and big department stores to make online transactions. Cellphones were the size of a brick. People still had car phones with cords attached to the car. We had suitcase cellphones and house phones on our walls. There was no such thing as broadband or wifi. Teenagers hung out at pool halls and had keg parties. It was a simpler time. I graduated high school in 97’. Fond memories, but Joe Rogan was always the Fear Factor guy. And Theo Von was that funny kid from MTV’s Real World Road Rules Challenge. MTV was a channel that played music videos, and then later they invented reality tv shows.

I live in an older (pre WWII) suburb in WI, and it's bizarre... million dollar houses next to slums on pretty much every street within the city - but also plenty of public parks and beaches. I got lucky and met some like-minded neighbors by chance playing at a park basketball court, and now 3 years later we've had 2 block parties as well as litter pick ups, trash removal, and general mutual aid (and I'm now on the neighborhood association board). It's hard to make friends as an adult, so having a relationship with so many neighbors is mind blowing in such a divided country. A great album recommendation about isolationist surburbia is Read Music, Speak Spanish by Desaparacitos... A few songs still make me tear up even today, despite being Iraq war era protestations

The real thing that pains me about this clip, is how much ground is lost or conceded by leftist beholden to the idea that anyone that appears in the orbit of a Joe Rogan like figure is to be automatically written off as "stupid". Its time to stop throwing people into the garbage bin and allowing corporate influence to adopt them without serious engagement in discourse. Im sick of people being " pleasantly surprised" by the fact "unsophisticated people" largely understand what the fuck is happening to them. Stop trying to "win the argument" and talk to people as if they were human beings and not enemies. A message to the adults in the room. Michael Brooks I felt understood this deeply, as much as he would make fun of influential political and social figures, I still think he understood the importance of engaging in good faith. What a legacy to leave behind to build hope and solidarity REST IN PEACE Michael, here's to you King 👑

Concerning billionaires and the ultra wealthy, I don't think it's necessarily that there needs to be a cap on how much a person can earn. If you write a book, or make music or movies that makes you millions upon millions of dollars, great. You deserve it. But billionaires make their billions by extracting wealth from workers and passive parasitic income.

I hear your argument regarding where the money comes from, but however someone makes their money we don't need billionaires walking around simply for the power imbalance - the potential damage it does to have someone rich enough to throw their weight around and shape society to their own ends regardless of democratic will or expertise. Sam Seder brings up this example a lot: how in the 2000's Bill and Melinda Gates used their wealth to lobby around the country and shape American education to what they thought it should be, but they're not education experts. Nevertheless they had the money, so the government listened to them instead of experts and the result was a disaster by every metric.
@Martinroadsguy
@Martinroadsguy 26 күн бұрын
@@Code_Dee my point is that you're not going to make billions and gain that kind of power and influence simply creating or inventing something without exploiting workers. It isn't possible. Nothing and no one is naturally worth that much. If you write a book, like Bernie did, it's feasible to make millions from royalties if millions of people want to read it. Hundreds of millions or billions can only come from abuse, manipulation, and exploitation. That should be the focus of regulation. Not some dollar amount.

Look up the different concepts and see for yourself even. Every single religion past a 1000 years. Just fleshing out in real form through examples your very correct thinking. Only ones that don't have it are the ones with the cannibalistic rituals and Mormonism. Mormonism isn't old enough to decide if it's a bad idea I guess but the cannibalism causes Kuru and just like mad cow human version mad cow is incurable and fatal.
@Code_Dee
@Code_Dee 26 күн бұрын
@@Martinroadsguy From a policy standpoint it's a lot easier to pick a dollar amount, then you don't have to get into the weeds of "did you come by this money by way of exploitation or not? Lets go to court and figure it out" it's just "hey how much money you got?". And for the sake of argument, like let's say it might be possible to become a billionaire without exploitation. Well they still shouldn't have so much money that they could subvert democracy; money is power and no one person should have that much of it.
