I was just as upset when I learned of all the memos the Bush white house fed media outlets such as Fox News during the Iraq war in order to push a certain narrative. The implication both then and now in this case is that if Fox or Twitter didn't follow these memos, they may be the target of increased scrutiny by the government.

Matt Taibi made it clear this his concern is about censorship by the right as well as the left. In previous articles, he has pointed out that new reporters and commentators rarely focus on investigation and calling out the government when it is wrong. Instead, they simply cater to the specific polarized audiences that they speak to. Just as you do. Not one of people in this clip have the background that earns you the right to smear him as you have. And none of you have the insight to see that his views align with yours on many topics. I have been an anti-corporate progressive since I first voted in the 70s. I not only subscribe to, but I actually patronize progressive non-traditional media. This is a common Republican talking point for years and one that Elon Musk (new owner of Twitter) was promoting himself at the same time he was giving Taibbi access to selective information. Musk wanted good press as a supposed free press advocate removing any bias (which Musk is not, given his own attitudes about any critics on Twitter and the promotion of himself and right wingers over others). The evidence Taibbi showed literally indicated extra protection of right wing figures and accounts, most notably Donald Trump's account, for which the rules were literally changed, and Libs of TikTok, which was not to be touched without higher ups looking at any decision to sanction the account. But he still insists on the "left wing bias" narrative. He trests this as whistleblowing when the info broker is literally getting a personal political benefit doing so and owns the organization being investigated. That's not whistleblowing. That's a press release. No, this is not objectivity. It's being anti-left to get the cash. His interview with Brianna Gray not long ago showed that.

Maybe it was the hearing, coupled with his multiple appearances on various programs that can generously be called right leaning where he worked to affirm the inherent notions of these programs and their audience. I urge those listening to this broadcast to think critically. Within the first statements of this episode, this broadcast Claims Matt Tabbai has a lack of journalistic integrity. I find it interesting that only a couple of American journalists pursued this story. Furthermore, I find it even more interesting that these journalists are being treated as if they are the enemies of American citizens. Draw your conclusions as you see fit; however, they reported many instances of government agency overreach that ultimately violates your constitutional right to freedom of speech. In other words, they are speaking out against censorship. As for this media outlet- each side of this story is allowed and protected by the first amendment. Integrity of your argument would not use logical flaws, to debate your position.

Frankly, the takes on Matt are more like the freak out in the 70’s about back masking. If it wasn’t Matt, it would be someone else in the same position and we would be looking for the magic code in their words that reveals their nefarious agenda. The political sphere is so warped, one would get the impression that they invented vocabulary and the world was always operated through our present day political paradigm. Matt’s role in all of this is more like ‘Free Guy’. So far, all Matt has done is release information for the Twitter files, sift through hundreds of thousands of documents, done some interviews and testified before Congress. We have barely sunk our teeth into all of this and I’m sure that there will be other journalists digging deeper into subjects that the files revealed. The fact that your channel decided to completely misrepresent the point of the hearing by claiming these findings specifically highlight right wing suppression destroys any credibility this channel has ever had. The findings have reported a number of times to have affected multiple segments of the political spectrum, both left and right, across the globe. The concern is federal agencies, during the whole hearing they are constantly steering it back to the point that this is not about one side or the other or even "Democrat influence". It's about federal agencies imposing their will on private companies and orgs to curate information across the world, regardless of their political affiliation. Did you miss the part about twitter being a private company to which the 1st amendment does not apply? You'll have to try to make a case that somehow civil liberties and surveillance concerns apply here, or the bill of rights. Do you mean to imply that twitter has a constitutionally mandated obligation to publish links to nude photos of people who don't wish for their nude photos to be made public? If you're truly concerned about democracy, (of which the U.S. is only partially representative), how do you feel about the criticism of capitalism essentially representing an embodiment of an undemocratic philosophy?

Links that were a violation of their existing policies and which may be in violation of existing laws? Why did his reporting not mention whose administration the FBI were representing at the time? Why did he only make one (apparently single?), scant and oblique reference to the incident where the most powerful leader of the world's preeminent superpower, at the time, whose personal feelings were insulted, pressured twitter to delete a tweet by a private citizen? Did Taibbi's reporting ever provide any explanation for his apparent conflict of interest that he has personally and specifically warned against and profited from financially, "I think that’s true of any kind of journalism. Once you start getting handed things, then you’ve lost. They have you at that point and you gotta get out of that habit. You just can’t cross that line."?

And not that it matters in this case since the federal government is involved, but typically in cases involving free speech, the defendant is a private company nor does the plaintiff have to prove they were silenced by the government. (?) The primary case which the right wing conspiracists point to where they claim that Trump's own FBI, led by Trump's hand-picked Director, suppressed reporting to benefit Biden, is the Hunter Biden laptop story. The story was censored for 16 days by twitter, (wrongly so, according to then CEO Jack Dorsey), over twitter's fears of illegally promoting foreign interference in U.S. elections, (as they hearkened back to 2016), since it could possibly be the product of Russian hackers. Twitter's fears were eventually found to be for naught as the provenance of the story eventually became at least somewhat, (though even yet, not fully), discovered. That twitter entertained such fear, at the time, was understandable, The New York Post being . . . well . . . The New York Post. Unfortunately the Post wasn't providing anyone with any information which anyone could use to reasonably assess the credibility of the source and hence the story. As a result, no other news outlets were willing to run with it simply on the Post's say so. (Ends up it originated from the murky depths of the Trump swamp, so the domestic equivalent, ideologically speaking, of a Russian troll farm, but who knew at the time?) Though I've never heard of this being cited by anyone, of this "scandal", Taibbi himself tweeted, there is “no evidence, that I’ve seen, of any government involvement in the laptop story”. If not for the windfall profits he's enjoyed as a result of those who believe the gov't WAS involved, I would wonder why Taibbi has not bothered to press that point and continue expressing that observation.
