The issue of abortion was brought up during the Arizona Senate debate between Blake Masters and Mark Kelly. Kelly cited Roe v Wade, talked about a woman’s right to choose, and how Masters believes he knows better. The Majority Report crew discusses how Maters suffers from resting-rich face and how he was matched against an astronaut.

Well, we mentioned the salience of abortion and that could be influencing Herschel Walker's denial You know despite the fact that he has that Redemption out. Mark Kelly debated Blake Masters last night in Arizona Blake Masters talked about running from his abortion stance Blake Masters, this guy it's like on a jet pack running away from his abortion stance he wiped it from his website, and here is uh Mark Kelly pounding that point...

Very smart move to say he supports Roe v Wade, instead of saying he supports abortions up until x number of months. I actual took the time to read about the decision, it was very well written. Also, if a mother decides to carry a baby for more than 6 months, something tells me they have already made the decision to have the child and the only reason they would have that particular procedure is because it was medically necessary.

I don't support the reasoning behind the decision in Roe v Wade because the USSC decision introduced the viability standard into the abortion debate. The viability argument opened the door to giving fetuses rights like the personhood bill Clown boy Masters supports. The 2004 Unborn victims' rights bill is Unconstitutional since a being can only be assigned rights at birth under the 14th Amendment. I support women ending a pregnancy at any time during the pregnancy before birth for any reason.

There should be zero limits on abortion. The idea that women are getting abortions at 8 months for the hell of it is a moronic GOP talking point. Women who have those late term abortions want to have a child and are faced with devastating news. They've chosen names, purchased cribs, and painted rooms. Instead of GOPers understanding this and doing what they can to help the women facing those horrible decisions they go out of their way to pile on to the women in their time of grief.

Yes, but we won't get to zero limits until people start thinking about abortion for what it is: terminating a pregnancy, not "killing a fetus". If a fetus is healthy and can be saved during an abortion, that should be done. Unfortunately, people have this idea that abortion is all about "killing a baby". In reality, a fetus dying is just a result of the simple biological fact that it can't survive without a host. And if you're a Christian, you should blame God for that bad design, not the mother.
@lynneanderson4255
@lynneanderson4255 2 жыл бұрын
ABSOLUTELY 💯 Surprisingly, in a (very) few states, as it should be, there's no gestational limit. If an abortion has to take place at 4 months or later, it's because something catastrophic has been revealed or something has suddenly gone horribly wrong. After all, at any point a pregnancy can take a turn for the worst for the fetus, the mother or both. That's no time for some arbitrary time limit to play a role. The commonality of pregnancy and childbirth masks it's danger because it truly is the most dangerous thing that can happen to a woman's health and well-being.
@wvu05
@wvu05 2 жыл бұрын
@@lynneanderson4255 Indeed. A lot of people forget that as recently as 1900, childbirth was the biggest killer of women in America. Until WWI, men outlived women on average. Yes, we have things that make it easier now, but sometimes things just go wrong.

exactly, it's pure hate for women and I can't understand it bc these are the women who they would think were doing everything right but as soon as messy biology happens they want to condemn her and would rather she die or the baby suffer terribly. I don't know how to see it as anything but pure hatred of women. and it's not just life and death, it's the denial of healthcare, like making women carry dead fetuses for as long as possible, risking sepsis and loss of the uterus to finally save her... I just ... it's beyond horrifying. and to think of the medical bills incurred also having to go back to the hospital over and over asking, will you save me now? and if they have their way any time a woman has a miscarriage she'll have to go to trial for it, if they determine it's somehow her fault they'll jail her ... women can't help if a miscarriage happens they just can't and it often causes so much grief for them

Masters just didn’t do his homework. Once a pregnancy hits the halfway mark, you can assume that the baby is wanted. Doctors will not perform an abortion on a normal fetus once viability is reached. If the mother’s life is in danger, they will induce labor or do a c-section to deliver the WANTED baby. Abortions past the 20 weeks point are done for only two reasons: 1) the mother will die without it and the fetus is too young to survive or 2) the fetus has something horribly wrong and is nonviable (will not live no matter what the doctor does). Pregnancy can kill women. Forcing a woman to carry a nonviable fetus to term is dangerous to the mother and very cruel. No woman gets to the 8 month point and suddenly says, “I changed my mind.” Even so, no doctor would grant such a request without a compelling reason.

Plus with the International Space Station, you had to be able to get along with people for 6 or more months, 24/7, of various cultures, nationalities, and opinions in confided conditions. Masters would never have passed the intense psychological testing they went through to be picked.

That's been the case for some of the most legislative pieces that infringe on human rights: all the fear mongering they do has been shown to be based on absolutely nothing, with some times the people in power being incapable of giving actual examples when asked by a news host. They simply want everyone to believe that that is what is happening or capable when being pro-abortion because then they can easily put people in the camp of "Horrible, disgusting people that allow the most horrible types of crimes on unborn children!" and the people who appear like the sane "normal" bunch that does not allow such crimes. It's just a tactic to divide people instead of like how the person combatting someone showing some very troublesome signs of what he thinks should be a very important role for government to have is merely showing just how moronic his viewpoints are by saying: "I don't understand why there are people who think they know more about this subject than the doctors and women involved who have to have this procedure performed..." Yes it's definitely pointing out the party that holds the awful views on bodily autonomy and integrity, but it's not dividing like the Republicans do, it's just giving the option of "You can decide to not vote on this type of politics and here's why..."

We have given up being the intellectuals in the room and thus we see such “unusual” candidates with positions on things that just don’t make sense, even to a normal, rational individual. The only path out of this is the continual trend of people turning away from religion and at some point, their voting block won’t matter and we can then turn on them and start running on ideas worthy of a modern society.

It means if the woman will die unless the baby is aborted then it's legally possible, not that it would actually happen. In fact it's also legal in some states already, like Colorado, Boebert's home state, is anybody talking about all the 9 month abortions going on there? First of all, most abortions are not performed at "8 months and 30 days." That is called induced labor. As in mother and/or baby are in distress. Ectopic pregnancy is incompatible with life. Left untreated, the woman dies. Some pregnancies are incompatible with life due to extreme medical issues. I read about a baby with no brain, kidneys or lungs. Why make both suffer? Forcing a mother to carry a stillborn? I just can't with these people. And then they want to put hands on birth control, Plan B and the abortion pill. None of these Repugs are taking into account the psychological damage to mothers facing these issues. There was a politician who believed that a rapist's baby is a gift from God!

Politicians cannot and should not make medical decisions for people. They have no right to do it. They have no medical expertise. And they have no knowledge of their constituents’ medical or personal histories. The only way laws prohibiting pregnancy termination could possibly be justified is if fetuses have a RIGHT to be in or remain in women’s bodies. The thing is, NO ONE has this right. No person on earth has a right for any PART of themselves to be inside another person’s body against that person’s will. No person has a right to use another person’s organs to preserve their own existence against that person’s will. If no one has these rights, then how the hell can a fetus have them? A fetus cannot possibly possess rights that no person in the world possesses. Why is this so difficult for antiabortionists to grasp?

Wouldn't it be great if being intelligent, articulate, accomplished, and having good policy ideas that actually helped regular people, and tried to improve the quality of their lives, meant you could mire than likely be elected? Now you just need the "Sacred R"

I don't want to sound like a know it all, but wouldn't a late term abortion need to be performed in a medical center, since the woman would need to recover as an inpatient? Aren't Planned Parenthood clinics ambulatory facilities? Isn't a late term abortion similar to a cesarean section or stillbirth, with a 48 hour hospital stay?
