+SomeCrazyHorseChick My misstake, they run from $500 up to $800, www.smartpakequine.com I was looking at the Sam Shadow Matt Crystal for $1350. My Point is....what are you getting for that price that you are not getting for a $50 ASTM/SEI rated helmet?

@@markwarnberg9504 Samshield helmets are certified to the European safety standard, which is better than ASTM/SEI. ASTM/SEI tests only 2 safety parameters (drop onto a flat surface, drop onto a pointed/hazard edge) while the European safety standard (VG1/CE-EN) also does a crush test (like if your horse were to say, step on your head) and a spike test (if something sharp, like a stud in a horse shoe, were to penetrate the helmet). In this case, the extra money/cost of the helmet gets you extra safety testing/features. But that's not the case for all expensive helmets, so be sure to double-check the safety label on the helmet (because some $300 helmets are only ASTM/SEI certified, in which case the extra money just gets you pretty rhinestones and stuff).
