I have a 50” in my room. It looks *LOVELY* for my PS5 games ambient and overall aesthetic. The 3 HDMI ports are an appreciation bonus. The in-built speakers actually sound very good for built-ins with lots of settings for both audio & visuals. The last few TVs and monitors I’ve purchased have been Samsung so overall good stuff and the free online channels are a plus! 😃 I have Apple products and although Samsung is a competitor, it still supports Airplay and Apple TV + so that’s cool of them. 👍

I just got the 43 inch version of this for my bedroom which is a darker environment. You're right that it doesn't get very bright. On standard mode it's quite dark but Dynamic mode makes it far too bright. There's no middle ground. The other thing you're right about is the abysmal sound. I had to buy a sound bar to help it just get back to acceptable.

The only thing improving throughout those years is the input lag.. Its really low in 2020 and 2021 models and input lag that low is perfect for gaming.. also the thickness is reduced a lot.. but the panel quality pretty much remained the same

Turn off HDR for any content and this tv is actually pretty damn good for the price. People need to realize that even though it can output HDR it does NOT mean it’ll do it properly. Like he said in the video, no local dimming tech, wide color gamut nor does the peak brightness hit the requirements.

I think that you guys should take stutter and strobing far more into account when it comes to how good a TV is for movies. There are many TVs that you gave amazing ratings for how they are for movies, despite horrible stutter. A TV with horrible stutter is never amazing for movies.

My little review: Brightness could be higher. Maxed out it's still a little on the dim side. Speakers are pretty bad. They are are quite tinny. Very little bass. Think about how your phone sounds, but louder. Also, if you want to use the low latency "gaming mode" for the picture settings, it also locks the audio into gaming mode as well. So with gaming mode enabled (which you will definitely want for games or using a mouse), you can't adjust the audio at all. Good news is you can raise the TV up a little by adjusting the legs, to fit a sound bar underneath. You'll probably want one, or headphones, if audio is important to you. There is no support for 1440p. You're stuck between 1080p and 4k. Those 2 resolutions work fine, but in between is a mess. If you're using an Xbox Series S (maxes at 1440p), avoid this TV, unless you're ok being stuck in 1080p or upscaling your resolution. Same goes for a PC. If your PC can handle 4k, then no problem. But if not, you're down to 1080p. The remote is subpar. I mean I guess it's alright if you're really minimalistic, but using it and navigating menus is not very good. Clunky. Those are the negatives. On the positive side, the image quality is quite good. The TV is super thin. I mean it, it's really damn thin. Would look great mounted on a wall. Bezels are really thin as well. The price is decent. It's my first Samsung TV, I thought I would be blown away given their reputation for screens, but I'm really not. It's good enough, but nothing special. Feels like cost cutting at every corner.

@@Innane i hear you. part of me wants "the best" to last for a while, but compared most 4k panels are an improvement. Looking closer at my pan I can see blooming, pixel grain, shadow smear and minor burn-in of the blu ray menu for some strange reason. I guess my budget will be the final judge. @@jeffharder8706 We replaced a 10+ year old Samsung 40" (nothing fancy) with a new AU8000 50", and immediately realized that the sound on the AU8000 was awful by comparison. It sounds like it's coming from in a tin can. Tried all of the options and adjustment - Amplified was a little better, but still noticeably worse that what we had. Our old TV wasn't movie-theatre quality, by any means, but we never once thought about the sound being bad. With the new one, that's what we think watching even basic shows, much less something with a dramatic score. Sad that you would need to drop $100-$200 more on a sound bar to get even acceptable sound quality. Maybe it's just that TV's are two thin now (the old one is a little bit deeper) for good sound quality, but since being super-thin has no value to me, I'd rather have a thicker option with good native sound.
@jeffharder8706
@jeffharder8706 2 жыл бұрын
@@carpingnyland8518 I’m sure and I’ve seen reviews, that because tv’s are so incredibly thin nowadays, they really can’t fit decent speakers in them, hence the need for external speakers, soundbars etc. I have the 43” AU8000 that I bought for my small bedroom. I bought a Vizio 2.1 sound bar with subwoofer and virtual DTS:X/Dolby Atmos for $165. Even though the effects are virtualized, Vizio pulls off a pretty remarkable job. The added touch of a good subwoofer helps immensely

Samsung's mid range TV's have regressed consistently in the past 3-4 generations. The 8000 series had 120Hz panels in the NU and RU generations, but since the TU generation they've been downgraded to 60Hz panels, which is pathetic. Samsung has done quality downgrades in other departments of their electronics branch as well, like their phones, so it's only to be expected that their products can become worse from one generation to the next. Consumers should be under no illusion or hope that Samsung improves things from one year to the next. Rather the opposite is to be expected.

I just bought one, the au8000 50 inch, last night. there are NO instructions, the remote does not function as a remote except to basically turn it on and off. the screen help for the remote is nothing more than the description of what each button does, NOT how to use these functions, and the remote is clearly marked as to what each button is so what a waste of time that was! The Microphone/Voice activation is nothing more than a mute button and the actual voice activation requires external technologies! the volume controls do not work. The stand seems extremely dangerous. Even youtube seems to have absolutely NO videos on how to work this thing, at least that I could find after diligent searching. I Found many "unboxings" and descriptions of functions but nobody else seems to know how to use it either or there would be videos on the subject. and on and on! Don't waste your money on this product unless you want to be frustrated! I should have bought another Toshiba or Sony, which was cheaper, and actually functions as they say!

I purchased 2 weeks ago one and had popping/knocking sounds when off. Only when off. Not from the speakers but something on the back. Maybe capacitor? disconnected everything, upgraded firmware, reset, still the issue persisted. I had this tv in my bedroom so the popping was annoying. After the tv turns of, fast popping for about 30seconds, the slower popping for maybe 3-5minutes, the slow popping (every 15-30seconds apart) for 15 to 30mins. If I unplug from power, it stops. Drove me nuts. Just returned it and got another one. Came home, connected to power, didn't even connect anything to it and guess what. popping. Tomorrow I will return it and get either LG or Sony. :(

Although when I watch this KZbin review, I don't notice this issue which makes me believe I received a damaged product. I'm experiencing IPS glow/bleeding in the corners. Especially on the left bottom. It annoys me terribly! Unfortunately I can't upload a picture. I don't see any glow/bleeding on the panel in this KZbin review? Hey! It seems like we may have already replied to your email, but yes some degree of backlight bleeding/IPS glow is normal. However, it can vary between units and panel lottery is also a factor. If it's very noticeable and bothers you, you should try swapping it out. However, there's no guarantee it'll be better/less noticeable.

Another question: you guys say that stutter is caused when each frame is held for too long. But why does such a thing as how long the frame is held on the screen gives us the impression of stutter? Overall, I'm outraged that modern TVs can't display 24FPS motion correctly. It's an insult to the art of cinema. Instead, they try to butcher cinema even more with motion interpolation (soap opera effect is despised by every single film fan and filmmaker who knows about it, please don't undersell how terrible it is by saying things like "Some people don't like it"). Also, it's not "most movies are shot in 24FPS". It's literally every film ever made, you can count the exceptions with the fingers of your hands! And 24FPS has also become more ubiquitous than ever in modern TV shows! So, why are modern TVs not made to play 24FPS perfectly?! This is revolting

PS3 is best in 1440p (a.k.a. 2K resolution) because all PS3 games are 720p, so there's no pixel stretch, as each PS3 game pixel will occupy exactly 4 screen pictures. I can't stress how important 1440p is for PS3. Once you go 1080p or 4K on PS3, the results are abhorrent. It will look like all PS3 games are built without anti aliasing, which of course isn't true; it's just that the video output pixels don't match the screen's pixels (when pairing the PS3 with any resolution but 2K or 720p) PS2 will look like shit, unless you find an old CRT for it (i.e: not fixed resolution)

@zarent01
@zarent01 2 жыл бұрын
@@Oxmosh Actually my comment was a positive remark as most TVs have average input lag outside game mode. It's not an important metric for non-gaming. If you can settle with OK upscaling of non-4K content, Hisense U68G is great value for having a bright display otherwise go for Samsung Q60A which is still a good choice for most users. I'd probably recommend Hisense U88G or Samsung Q70A but they both have 120Hz refresh rate which is unnecessary for non-gaming and is slightly more than your said budget.

Overall, between the three the Q60T is actually the better TV overall. The main difference is that the Q60T uses quantum dot technology to produce a wide color gamut for HDR content, which the AU8000 can't do. The Q60T also gets much brighter, making it a better choice for well-lit rooms or watching HDR content. They each have similar panel types, and even though the Q60T has a higher contrast, this can vary between units.

Hi .. please QN90A or X90j ? What the best ? );
@RTINGSdotcom
@RTINGSdotcom 3 жыл бұрын
Overall, the QN90A is the better TV. The Samsung has a much wider color gamut, and it gets a lot brighter, more than enough to deliver a true cinematic HDR experience. It has better viewing angles because it has Samsung's 'Ultra Viewing Angle' layer, but this layer also causes a drop in the contrast ratio. That said, the Samsung's local dimming is significantly more effective at improving the black level. The Samsung has better response times, and unlike the Sony, its Black Frame Insertion feature can flicker at 60Hz in 60 fps content. It has VRR support to reduce screen tearing when gaming, and it supports 1440p @ 120Hz on the Xbox Series X, while the Sony can't.
