I'm pretty sure this matters, but when watching the video playback, the s8 plus had the black bars around it, meaning that it didn't waste battery lighting up those pixels, whereas all the other phones did.

Tech MA Amoled displays are better than pmoled displays. And v 30 have pmoled display. Quality of display will be a bit low so of course it will drain less battery

The rest are flagships and A8 isn't so its acceptable to me because batteries shouldn't age this soon and especially on flagship phones, a better battery on mid-tier / budget phones is either not common or they are battery focused phones like motos e series. So theses phones are pretty good in terms of battery life

LoL .. do you read what you`re writing? There is NO high/mid/low end battery, it`s the same battery, excepting how big it is!!! It`s the same manufacturer for S8, S8+, A8 & A8+. And yes, these batteries are ageing sooner for high end phones because of the very very high resolution, more saturation of color & much more options on them ( that`s why they are called HIGH END DEVICES ).

Junior Barra Well you left out a point, being the exact same battery won’t even matter if processors are different, the flagship ones will be concentrated more on performance and the mid tire are more energy efficient but less on performance, so even though A8 (small) has 3000 mah beats S8+ of 3500 mah

Thanks for the test. Just helped me decide to buy the A8+. For the sake of a tiny loss in performance compared to a s8, you get all the best bits from the s8, s8+ with some s9 styling, and the speaker in a better position than all of them, yet at half the price brand new sim free in the uk, seems like a no brainer to me now.
