Last time I had a phone with a physical keyboard was a Blackberry back in 2011. I got away from that thing and saw no need for one. I guess there are those who really like them.

Hey Tim, I purch this item a couple of days after getting my S8 Plus. the first few uses I was not impressed. After forcing myself to use it for longer periods of time, it has become very helpful. You nicely pointed out it's drawbacks and/or deal breaker qualities. It is definitely not for anyone that does not have the patience to learn its quirks. I definitely will continue to use it as the virtual keyboard is negligible for me at times. Thanks for the Review.

Great review! I have an S8 and am considering the keyboard simply for comfort as I use my phone for typing a lot and tend to miss the keys I'm trying to hit. Does the voice dictation still work with the keyboard fine? Also, how does the phone recognize the keyboard is on the phone?

Samsung's keyboard cover takes up part of the screen, just like the virtual keyboard. Talk about defeating the purpose of a physical keyboard, especially if it's pressing on that same screen with the same tiny buttons! I'll rather get more versatile options with the Blackberry KEYone or the physical keyboard Moto Mod coming to fruition for the Z[2] Play. They are near-stock and much cheaper than the S8 anyways.

I'm typing this comment using the keyboard, I got it for $25 on Amazon. The case is actually pretty nice but don't expect too much protection. I'm actually finding myself typing longer comments or texts ever since I got it.. I think it might actually be happening right now!

Main problem with this is the burn in it'll develop over time. That area the keyboard covers, the screen is off, so it's not going to degrade as quickly as the rest of the screen. Just something to note before you purchase it.
