In this video I will look at ways to de-ice and trouble shoot the freeze up troubles of Samsungs French door ice makers.

Wow I watched first 5 min of your video and found out I was trying to pull tray door open from the side. I have been trying to pull open for last 4 years but I thought it was just hopelessly frozen. By Accident yesterday my refrigerator went into demo mode FF and everything started melting. I should have documented my process and taken pictures of the big chunk of ice that was keeping me from opening the door, so I thought! But you made me realize what I was doing wrong. You have saved me hundreds of dollars. Now I have to figure out how to get it out of demo mode because instructions are not working. Thanks for the video. If no one else has told you, you are a genius!

@@riderescue Hello. Does this FD function defrost only the icemaker or also the freezer? Will defrosting turn itself off or do you have to turn it off by yourself? Thank you for your help.

Thanks for the info. I bought one of these POS about three years ago and ice maker went out at 7 months. Paid 5K for it when they first came out. Called Samsung several times and they said they where working on a fix and would send me the new ice maker for free... lol right.. never showed up and just gave up. I have a 20 yo Kitchen Aid still pumping ice out in my garage. Not one problem ever! Never buy another Samsung again. Thank you for the video... Frustrating I know!!

Yep, very frustrating. My new Samsung replacement parts showed up today though. Samsung claims the new parts and sealant will fix it. We'll see. My plan is to install the new kit this weekend. I'll post the new video soon.

The ice box has to be completely sealed along the sides so warm air will not get in the ice compartment, so it don't build up frost inside the box.

Yep. I have tried all the tips and tricks now. Nothing works longer than a year at most. I've heard recently that if you complain to Samsung enough that some people are getting a refund of most of their purchase price. Samsung is trying to get out from under the class action law suit.

Just wanted to give you guys a suggestion that helped me out. I called Samsung and told them about my ice maker issue. They asked me for my model and S/N which I gave them. They told me that Samsung is now doing repairs for this issue for free. They scheduled a tech to come out and check the refrigerator and do any necessary repairs. The tech will decide if the whole ice maker will need to be replaced or if only some parts need changing. But all of this is being done free of charge. So I hope this helps others like me with this crazy issue get this resolved once and for all.

@@riderescue I called Samsung just today and scheduled the tech for next week. Not sure if Samsung has published this service or has contacted all people with the affected issue but I simply called customer service and this is what they are doing for me. Hope they help everyone who has suffered from their design flaw and helps others from trying to fix this themselves.

@@JoseCastillo-zm3vy Are they doing this for out of warranty refrigerators? Or are you still under warranty? Mine worked beautifully until after the warranty expired.

@@bmcsteve94 Samsung is doing this for anyone suffering from this defective including out of warranty fridges. So definitely take advantage of this break and big win for us consumers because how many times do manufacturers go back and repair out of warranty devices FOR FREE. I have a feeling a lawsuit was probably involved here. Now when the tech comes out and inspects the refrigerator, it's his call on what will be replaced. My tech was cool here because he was told and only had the ice maker to only change but he pushed back saying "No, the whole ice maker, auger and ice basket (mine was cracked) needs to be replaced". So he resubmitted the order back to his department to get ALL the new parts ordered. As proof he took lots of pictures to prove his argument so I would recommend not cleaning or melting any ice build up. If you have any other questions, let me know. Good luck.

I'm happy to report that the Samsung fix they installed (New Motherboard, New auger, New ice maker and New Ice bin) two weeks ago has been, so far, working GREAT. No issues of ice build up. Totally happy with repair and install. The technician was friendly and very much aware of the issue with these frig's so they were understanding and patient. They knew exactly how to permanently fix this design flaw. And all for FREE. So if anyone else is having this issue, call them ASAP. Who knows how long they'll do this for.

The only thing wrong is the water supply tube is pushed in too far and causing the water to splatter in and frost up so just pull it back out some

you are not turning the pressure down. you are reducing the volume only.
