I sold my arc, sub gen 3 and one SLs and got the Q990D and I'm so much happier with the Samsung. I will say the Sonos sub is better than the Samsung one, but over all I'm pleased I switched.

Was gonna get me 990c and keep my arc era 100s and 2 gen 3 subs use the mome ty that was gonna use for my era 300s for the samsung im sure samsung sub is by far competition for the sonos but ....

@@davoncci To me it just feels richer and more powerful. And more stable. Pass through is also handy. I've also had zero drops outs or app issues. Also, having a large physical media collection, it's much more suitable. And full DTS support.

Thanks for watching, that i totally understand with the upfiring speakers on this setup versus the Sonos ones are totally different you get more out of the q995d. The subs i dont really know im gonna compare that part in tomorrows video.

This is the end of the line for this generation of Samsung flagship soundbar 990D in my view. A to D has been an incremental upgrade over the years. I think the 990E would be the next generation, like a 2.0 version of A- D. I can't wait for CES 2025. I have held back from buying the 990D or the 990C. What Hi-Fi wrote an article on the 2025 sound bar they listened to and they were very impressed with the sound quality. My 2025 purchase will be the next version of the 990D soundbar

Thanks for this video. Really nice to hear an opinion from someone who extensively used the Sonos and already familiar with the sound compared to this Samsung. If you have not tweaked any of the settings or used any of the surround modes and you're impressed/shocked (good way) the way it enveloped you on your "movie" test and thats really a points on the samsung. Hope you can try the stereo settings by using the surrounds as "front" & "left" speakers..it is on the samsung on app..

Great review, like how you thoroughly test. I had the 990c and an lg oled b2. The sound would cycle between tv speakers and the soundbar about every 5 seconds. The 5 sec. On soundbar was great but the sound was constantly interrupted. Spent 3 hours with Samsung and they said to ask lg. apparently it is a problem with this combo. I sent the 990 back and would like to have one that works with my tv. Has anyone else solved this problem…..please….thanks

What do you say about speech intelligibility compared to the Sonos Arc Ultra? I have the old Arc with sub and ones and I have the Samsung 995. I was shocked at how good the Samsung sounds.

Atmos height is totally room/placing dependant. And yes. You will definately be downgrading. Samsung is louder but does not fully compare in quality. Also about loudness. Every device has different volume scale. Samsung felt like its about maxed out at 40/100 and turning it louder just made it sound worse. Sonos is scaled differently.

Thanks for watching, the dolby atmos test is on xbox series x and is called Dolby (app) bought it for 10 dollars but i think its free today if im not wrong. But its totally worth it to try out the speakers and they have a couple of good Doly videos aswell

Thanks for watching, yes i live in an apartment and my neighbour is the best never never complained about my setup. I have Sonos setup with two sub gen 3s and that shakes the whole apartment but neighbour is cool about it 😂😂. The q995d has good enough bass but its not gonna bother the neighbours ✌️

So after a couple of tests of watching movies and tv shows there is no delay beteen a LG and the samsung q995d. I would say thats gonna be the same for your sony tv aswell no delay at all

I’ve got this but my Sonos ultra and era 300’s with a sub mini blows this out the water….but for £900 u cant beat the price…but it doesn’t come near the Sonos setup I have👍🏻

I looking for the home cinema experience and i cant decide between sonos arc ultra and the samsung q990D. From this review i starting to think that samsung is better value for the money. But from i heard the sub is not so great than sonos.

Thanks for watching, in gonna do a comparison between the subs in a video tomorrow and then i can tell you but from the test in this video the subwoofer is really good. Nothing wrong with the sub in the q995d at all. Samsung should make an firmware update so we can use two subs but maybe the have something for next years soundbar setup. @thisishazno8536 You speek very good english :) no worries 😅. I think it was called hw-k950 or something like that. I bought it in 2018 and sold it in the start of 2020. It didnt support dolby atmos and dts x from streaming. Only from 4k bluray. Apparently it only had 5.1.4 also.

The support DTS-X is a nice extra for me it's just the look i don't really like. I think it's kind of cheap looking compared to Sonos which is has a much more sleek design On the other hand it gets you thinking how much Sonos is charging for their products😂. I did read that Samsung may be coming out next year with a new design so it could be a interesting buy.

On the other hand ither brands have move HDMI ports and better support of Audio codes. But yeah that price , i just saw it for 846 euro's on black friday sales and that's just a bargain.

I demoed Q990d for a month and sent it back. It's a heck of a product for 1000bucks but it was no match for my Ambeo max and Klipsch rp1400 sub. Compared to what i was used to, Samsung sounded lean and quite shrill. Also for music it sounded like a soundbar would. I think the crossover frequency is very high for the sub. Samsung had a great surround bubble (Better surround ofc than ambeo, but much less overhead effect) and potent little sub though.

@ klipsch soundbars dont sound good to me. They sound like those plastic klipsch reference entry level home theater speakers downsized. Again loud and forward sounding but not much more. I’ve heard good things about flexus line though. New flexus core 300 will be very interesting.

Klipsch 700 soundbar with sub is on sale right now in sweden for 500 dollars. I think that will be my next soundbar to compare with Arc and sub gen 3. I allways thought klipsch was at the same level as Sonos when it came to sound but definitley gonna look up Flexus core 300

It like comparing a Samsung QD-OLED and an LG OLED -> the LG is overall a bit better but Samsung way cheaper for comparable performance
