Samsung refrigerator RF268abrs display panel replacement and Samsung rant.

In this video I install the 3rd display panel in my 4 year old refrigerator. And complain about my experience with Samsung appliances.

Update: Part number for the display panel is DA97-05401Q This panel has died again and I'm shopping for another one. This one will be number 4. I will probably video it again for the people in the comments that are to dense to understand "Pull with both hands."

CLAYTON! You’re my hero. My mom is upset that the water dispenser is moldy so I needed to remove it (I really want to help her out!). I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to pry off the display! Thank you so much for showing the hooks on the side, I managed to use a knife and a screwdriver to get them out of the way! I appreciate you man 😄

Thanks a lot for this video. I too have a dead display panel on my Samsung French door refrigerator model rf267abrs. The stupid thing just stopped working. Contacted Samsung dealers about the part and was told that this model fridge was discontinued, that part no longer available and that I should buy a new fridge. The rest of the fridge works fine only the display panel died. Searched online multiple times before finding one parts store selling it for $212. Was never a fan of Samsung appliances. When I have to replace this fridge it certainly will not be another Samsung. Thanks very much for your video showing how to replace this part it was very helpful

Well that's grim news. Can't believe they want $212 dollars for the panel. My refrigerator is on panel number 5 number 4 didn't make it 90 days and got warranted. Number 5 is still there with stuck lights. Fck Samsung! Thanks for the kind words!

I bought this one from Ebay. I'm sure you could get one through parts tree or sears parts direct.

Where did you find the part number (or do you have it)? I've been looking through manuals and online part sites, can't seem to find any hint of an entire display panel replacement.

With the model number of your refrigerator you should be able to find it on parts tree or sears parts direct. If you put your model number in they should come up with a parts diagram.

I have the same issue but I wanted to see how to remove the control panel other than it take two hands.. Not helping me with the pull. Did you have to use a knife to remove the clips?

I'm on my third display and now need a new one. The electricity went off during the night and when I got up in the morning the display only shows 88 on the left side and 08 on the right side, nothing else works. Another strange thing is the ice. I have RO water connected to the fridge, always have, the ice used to come out almost clear. Now it is solid milk color and tastes like crap. I can't figure out what the hell happened to do that. I installed a refrigerator deodorizer and that made no difference whatsoever. I am contemplating on getting a GE fridge. I had a service man look at the samsung we have and he recommended by a new fridge but not Samsung or LG. The thing with the ice though is a pisser.

Do you have the part number of the display assembly you purchased?

I'm sorry I don't. With the model number off of your refrigerator you should be able to find it easily on any on line parts seller.

Turn out that the panel controller board malfunction is caused by humidity. Put the board into a food dehydrator for an hour and it will work again. Super easy to fix.

I’ve got the same model. My display works but the freezer quit cooling. Any ideas? I’ve unplugged it for awhile, cleaned the vents in the back and called Samsung. They just wanted to send a service tech but I wanted to try to troubleshoot before paying for a service tech to come out. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Sorry I don't have any good suggestions. Maybe check the evaporator it could be frozen.

Arrrg! I was hoping to see how you pried the control panel out AND YOU SKIPPED THAT PART! Was it difficult? I understood how easy you put it back in but those side clips look like they could be devils to pry out. What tool did you use or do you just grip the underneath and yank her out?

Yeah they are a bit of bear to get unsnapped. I just pull it with both hands however I can hold onto it. If you read comments here there's people claiming they have had luck with a butter knife. Sometimes in my experience the clips on the display panel may break but if you have another to install it's not an issue.

The main reason I watched this video is to see how to pull the display after removing the screw. You did not show that.

Sorry as I stated before I had to have both hands to pull it. In the video I show the location of the screw, the clips, and how to unplug the harness. If this isn't enough information to pull yours yourself maybe you should hire a professional.

You BARELY showed what was needed to change the board. You waved the unit around in front of the camera and gave us a 1 second look at the clips at 3:15. This video is better than nothing, but really... if you are making the effort to show us all how to do it, think about what we need to see. It may be easy and obvious to you, having done the job multiple times, but the rest of us barely know what we're looking at. Next time, get a cheap tripod. If you're using your phone, you can get a holder for it to attach to the tripod for a couple of bucks.

@Semper fidelis Semper Paratus I truly appreciate that Clayton has made the effort to teach people what he has learned. My point is that he didn't quite succeed. If he wasn't holding his camera/phone in one hand while shooting, and put it on a cheap tripod with cell phone holder, he would have shown everyone how it's done. Doesn't matter if he's "getting way too good at this" if he doesn't SHOW people what he's doing.

my panel , none of the buttons work, unless I unplug it and plug in and it will work once.. do you think it is my panel? The icemaker still is maker ice

I'd be afraid to even muster a guess for that, I'm no expert with appliances. If it was mine I'd check for a sticking button. Outside of a sticking button, it sounds like it could be a circuit board problem but I have no clue which board it would be, I think this unit has 2 or 3. Sorry for not being more help.

Thank you, Well I figure it can only be three things, ice maker, system board or the front panel. Since the ice maker makes ice and the refrigerator seems normal. I went with the front panel. I talked the appl people and they thought the same. So fingers crossed. the part is backorder for two weeks. I let you know how I make out.. -tom

Yep just had mine replaced it’s 8 mos old fridge it was about 1800 2 year old model it was new got it from Lowe’s. Just had the display panel replaced it was touch panel wel it only worked sometimes. Scare the tech guy said if it goes out again u have the extended warranty they would keep one in stock I was like really I got on here googled problems your video came up and you know what he I will never buy another Samsung either sometimes it feels like it don’t get as cold as my old fridge that was beat to death it was like 20 years old I was a teen when my parents got it it still ran the fridge would freeze milk if I turned it down all the way these Samsung’s mine is on coldest setting and I feel like it’s not cold enough it gets 34-38 all the time I like my drinks at about 29/30 plus milk will last a lot longer I will never buy a Samsung anything I’ll stick to whirlpool all my parents whirlpool are over 20 years old still going only problem was elements in stove simple fix even washer and dryers 20 years old still going strong. Samsung is a cheap crappy company I’m glad I invested in Apple phones when they was first released in 2007 had every iPhone since never had a problem friends had a note 7 last yes almost burned down her appt. so you don’t get what I pay for. As I’ve seen budget brands outperform and out last Samsung.

I pull the panel at approximately the three minute mark in the video. As I state in the video the clips are stubborn and I needed 2 hands to pull it so it's not directly shown in the video.

@@clayton7825 If you don't show it, it doesn't help anyone. Next time try a tripod. If you're using your phone to shoot the video then get a cellphone holder that screws onto the tripod.

rose sullivan piece of trash company will charge you 300-400 $ to replace the part. The price of a new appliances.
