the whole story isn't in there. He was offered a new tv before the technician came and he agreed to it, but after the technician came and cut the tv he filed a report of user damaged the tv and they refused his warranty, he had to make a call and ask when this new tv was coming and they told him it's not happening because of the damage to screen, it was only then he went back and checked the footage to find the technician had vandalized the tv, after that he called them back with the evidence and the sent him a newer model straight away once they realized they were caught

They gave him a new TV before he made the original video public. HOWEVER, if he didn't put that camera on the third repair attempt (he didn't on previous two), his warranty would remain voided and he would get nothing. So even though company fixed the problem when caught, they wouldn't if there was no video evidence. So public should be made aware of this.

@@martianman9797 you're incorrect. In some states both parties have to consent for a recording to take place unless on public property, which you're correct about that part. It varies heavily from state to state. They don't make sense because they're not even remotely consistent from state to state. With that being said "illegal" isn't the word I'd use, because there's no criminal laws about this stuff. Recording someone without their knowledge (with of course the "peeping" exception), is considered a civil matter, so "liable" is a better word to use.

I was a Samsung field technician. I still have those gray cargo pants. This happens more than you think. I never did anything that would void the customer's warranty, but I would occasionally create a "manufacturer's defect" in a dishwasher. Then I would call Samsung and get a 7000 code that the customer could take to the store for a new dishwasher. I didn't think it was fair to the customer for me to come to their house multiple times to try to fix something that is less than a year old. TV's are more straightforward. You have a panel, a main board, a power board, FFC cables, speakers, and a wifi module/remote sensor. That technician damaged the TV because he didn't have a helper to assist him in the repair, so rather than reschedule, he screwed the customer over. I'm 6'2, 200 lbs. I had to remove and repair wall-mounted 75" TV's by myself.
@eliadbu
@eliadbu 23 күн бұрын
Thank you for the insight, that technician is a scumbag, and should be held responsible for his actions. But I wonder if there is "unofficial" policy in some service providers companies to deal with such "problematic" warranty cases in such a manner.
@lessthanzero2680
@lessthanzero2680 23 күн бұрын
@@eliadbu to service Samsung warranty claims you have to be certified by Samsung, you're required to use their HASS diagnostic tool to collect and report data to Samsung, and all parts are sent directly from them. Their requirements are so strict that almost no third parties will get certified because it's not worth the hassle. The company I worked for was indirectly owned by Samsung anyway, so it appears as a third party but actually isn't. That technician was lying when he said the replacement TV was "drop off only." Samsung will try to repair something 3 times before it offers a replacement, unless it is deemed unrepairable before then. When they send a replacement unit, not only is it company policy to fully restore the TV or appliance to the customer's preferences, including helping the customer download and sign in to all streaming services etc., it is also mandatory that the defective part or unit be sent back. This is especially important with defective panels on TV's. If Samsung doesn't receive a defective panel back for the replacement panel, you won't get paid for the repair. They do this because technicians would be replacing panels that are out of warranty/denied for physical damage and charging the customer on the side, or with full TV replacements, just stealing/selling replacement TV's and saying they were defective.

As someone who's repaired their own TV multiple times after having a surge damage it, the process of repairing a TV isn't hard, just time consuming and annoying. There's no one to blame other than the manufacturers though, who decide the main board needs to be held in by by 22 screws of varying sizes.
@eliadbu
@eliadbu 23 күн бұрын
@@paulghignon4092 I would say it is a bad design choice to have soany screws especially different screws sizes but it is nothing new nor rare in modern electronic devices. I do not work on product design/industrial design, so I don't know why such cumbersome design is chosen or what were the considerations of the people that did design such TV, but I've seen examples how devices can be made with repairability in mind.

As a former tv repair man, I'll tell ya. You can't fix dead pixels by replacing the driver boards. Replacing the screen is the first step. The silicone lottery is real, and sometimes ya win or ya lose a little or a lot. Most warranty coverage, if it's dead pixels, they just replace the tv / monitor. The tech is insane and cutting the diffuser ( the thin outer plastic ) has no relation to dead pixels, so I'm confused as to why the tech would do that, lol. The whole situation is fishy to me.

For example once a service was charging me for software recovery, i wrote a detailed email to their headquaters. Next day service called me themselves and stated they would repair it free of charge under warranty. Samsung is a South Korean company most probably they still had no idea such an incident happened. Otherwise there is no way that technician could keep his job, they would perhaps end their contract with the entire service. This guy and the service he is working aren't a part of Samsung they are just local contractors and that's why they are doing such moronic things for few hundred dollars..

The problem is the precedent that it sets. The tech did this because it was near the end of his shift and he needed a new display panel for the screen which they didnt send him with so he would have had to go back to the hub and come back to replace it. He didnt want to spend that time so instead he caused damage to the tv and when he left logged it as User Physical damage to device and voided his warranty. To which the customer was informed about when called to find out when the Tech was coming back. Then checked his cameras and noticed he caught the act. The precedent it sets. How many times do you think this tech has done this? It seems pretty well rehearsed. If one tech does it how many others are doing it? These are the questions that Company that ends in Sung doesnt want out there with video evidence.

Same issue but worse, the screen was replaced in our living room and the techi said on the third visit that it was part of the 'technology', that black spot. So basically, if they don't want to replace it, which they never do, they'll just give you back what you paid them for the insurance. They make money like this because they get to keep the money from all the people who never tried to redeem the insurance. Me and my parents bought a white (important context for later) Samsung side-by-side fridge for $1800 US in the past and when we got it home, it was working great till I believe it was the condenser that gave up the ghost and the technician came in a very timely manner and he was great and he told us that the part was a frequent failure point in our exact model of fridge and he got it fixed and the fridge was back to keeping food that needs to be cooled, cool... Until the condenser broke a second time and this is where things went downhill: The same guy showed up in a timely fashion once again and this time he said we needed a replacement fridge and we agreed to that and we had to wait SIX WHOLE WEEKS for the replacement to show up but we were lucky to have a spare fridge so we didnt have to worry about our food going bad and when the replacement finally showed up, it was black (that is where the context comes into play) so it WAS TOTALLY THE WRONG COLOR and it had a BIG OLE dent going down one side of it so NOT ONLY was it the wrong color, it was a scratch-and-dent special to boot so safe to say my parents werent happy about it and we were on the hunt for a replacement fridge. We eventually came across this white side-by-side from LG (another electronic company, I know, so you would think we would have gone with Kitchen Aid or Whirlpool or some other actual appliance manufacturer but the experience was different with this one) we bought it while down in Nevada on the way to visit my only grandmother i have left who lives in Arizona to have it sent back to our previous house in TN and IT WORKED FLAWLESSLY for the remainder of the time we were there and we were so happy with it, we bought AN EVEN BIGGER FRIDGE from them for our current house in Ohio. At least there is a happy ending to the whole ordeal. Don't buy appliances from Samsung, their customer service is DOGS*** cause the treat appliances like they are TVs and other electronics ALL THE WHILE NOT UNDERSTANDING that YOU NEED A FRIDGE IN ORDER TO LIVE. You CAN NOT live without appliances while you could go for a few weeks without a TV. Appliances are MUST-HAVES and electronics ARE NOT and that is what Samsung fails to realize here.

Tried to have Samsung warranty my TV too for similar dark spots. They ended up replacing the TV entirely - but also required that I unmount it and box it up then install the new one myself, and the new one had issues too, so they had to come back and replace the panel in that. This one still isn't great, but Samsung refuses to do anything about it - won't service the TV again at all even though I have a 4-year warranty. Have promises of them replacing/refunding it recorded and then going back on that. My only recourse would be to sue them and I don't have the time for that. I am glad I overtly recorded the entire service each time so this didn't happen, but stories like this are not uncommon. Never buy Samsung.

@@jer280 even if he doesn't work directly for Samsung, the guy obviously works for some company selling TVs. In which case, he'd take the TV and then replace it. No trustable company will *ever* damage your items on their own right before they're supposed to replace them. Even when they do want the item damaged so it can't be resold, which is usually only the case with cheap electronics that cost less than $100, they'll have you do it.

@@Grumpy1174 firstly, unless it was Geek squad, no one sends anyone from a retailer for this. This is a local appliance repair business, that does Samsung warranty work. I never suggested this was normal practice, but it's absolutely what this guy decided to do so he wouldn't have to come back and try to fix his TV again bc it was ridiculous. I went thru something similar with a GE dishwasher, it was 2 months old and just stopped working, they sent a local business out to repair it and the guy lied to both me and GE, he told me the part was on backorder, and told them it was fixed. Eventually they had to get another company out there to actually try to fix it. I don't blame GE for the first guy lying and scamming that would be dumb

I never call repair technicians or ANY technicians for that matter. I actively go out of my way to avoid as much human contact with my products as possible. I'd rather fix things myself because I don't trust any of these companies. I don't even buy phones from the store in-person because I don't want anyone touching my stuff before me aside from the assembly line employees from the factory. I make sure to really do my research before I purchase any products with a warranty and/or that offer technician services because I want to prevent anyone from trying scummy tactics like what this Samsung Technician did. There is no level too low for companies that employ people like this. I wouldn't be surprised if he was told SPECIFICALLY to damage Samsung products by an executive at the company so that they wouldn't have to honor warranties. I would 100% believe that, especially these days.

I dealt with a Samsung washing machine for almost a year. I had it delivered and installed, but the techs who installed it didn't take out the shipping screws so when I ran it, it ripped the drum open which caused it to leak. Called Samsung, tech came out, said it was just the lint trap not being screwed in fully. Couple months go by as i didn't notice any water and i run a clean cycle almost flooding a room behind it. Next techs come out after a bunch of cancellations and rescheduling and they actually take apart the washer where there's 2 giant holes in the drum. Samsung said they wouldnt replace it but repair it, well of course that didn't work as the drum wasn't balanced and the the casing was starting to rust. Next techs come along and the one dude got on the phone with support, got ahold of a higher up and literally said "I have to clean up the mess of 5 people" at one point. Him and his partner were great and they knew that washer was dead from the beginning. Got a new washer, made sure the screws were removed and i actually kept the old screws and drum pieces cause it was such a wild time. New washer works well and haven't had any issues lol

@@Lincoln_Gi trying to make a living off of this single scandal is a terrible idea and weed obsessed people tend to latch onto terrible schemes like this, hence asmon drawing the line between these two points. apparently weed also makes you oversensitive to criticism and unable to come up with clever ways to criticize others. oh no asmon has trash in his room, that means nothing he says can ever be taken seriously! just because your entire personality is based around smoking weed doesn't mean you have to play defense for all weed users.
