Samsung Washer drum bearing replacement

Changing the bearing of Samsung WF45R6100 Front loading washer. My understanding is that most models are very similar. The job took me a couple hours of research and about 3 hours to change the bearing, not very technical but will take some thought and focus to get it right.
The bearing for this particular model can be found on ebay here (www.ebay.com/itm/393486394285).
Samsung Washer Seal Bearing Kit DC97-16151B DC62-00156A DC97-16509C Bearings.
If your machine model number is not an exact match you will need to do some research to make sure you purchase the correct bearing kit.

Thanks for the video, it was extremely helpful for when I replaced the counterweight and front tub in mine. Note - for the heating element wires (4:08) you could leave the wires and just pull the heating element out. Just loosen the middle nut, and remember to tighten when putting back.

Great job and thanks for sharing! A couple of questions, I have a similar noise when in the highest spin setting otherwise the noise is normal. Did yours make noise at the low spin? How do you find out it was the bearing defect? Would you post the bearing part number so I can do a search?

It was mostly on high spin although it got worse overtime. If it starts getting worse I would say it's your bearing. I was never 100% confident that it was the bearings but it apparently was and the noise went away once changed.

What was that piece of metal just under the seal that you flicked away? Does it go back or was that part of the original seal? Asking because mine was the same way.

This is part of the original seal and needs to be reinstalled after. It's just a spring loaded metal ring.

Hi Dee Bee, in full transparency no. While it works and the bearings are quiet, it has developed a balance issue which could likely be from me not being patient and careful enough when hammering out the original bearings.

I have the same noise PLUS banging noises during the spin. I think this banging may be due to bad shocks. Our Samsung FL washer cost $600+. Buy new is probably about the same cost $$$ to hire pros to fix both problems. I’ve watched a few how-to videos on the fixes. Still debating if I should or not! One video I saw was labor intensive to get to the bearings 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🙁🙁. Makes me not want to do it. Seeing yours isn’t that bad to do on my own 🤔🤔😁😁 -*** I noticed you did not grease the outer bearing before you banged it in, but you applied it after. Was it hard to bang in?

The bearing was difficult to bang in. I recommend greasing it. I may have done that off camera but I can't recall. The biggest thing to remember is that you need to be patient. If you bang in the bearing too impatiently and hard you risk impacting the balance of the entire drum assembly.

DC97-16509C comes up as the shaft assembly, not the 3rd bearing. Sigh😞

"Bearing ... on ebay" - chances are you bought a counterfeit part. Same applies to Samsung. Considering how new the machine looks, I suspect they got scammed by their supplier (or the supplier's supplier) and installed a counterfeit bearing right in the factory as well.

Worst washer ever. Had a cheapo Whirlpool that lasted 21 years. My Samsung front loader lasted 1 yr. Garbage product.

Ours is 13 years old. 5 people in our house and lots of laundry. It just recently started making the bearing noise.
