The Autel AP200 is a brilliant bit of kit for the money to use with a smartphone. It doesn’t do much in the way of programming, but it did cure my stop/start on my Discovery Sport, which the iCarsoft scanner failed to do and it gives proper codes with the 2 digit suffix, which again the iCarsoft fails to do. If you want programming then a more expensive Autel 908 is probably the way to go, but the iiD tool may be worth a look as well or the Lynx. I’ve been really impressed with the Autel and It’s saved me £££’s. Keeping my eye on my oil dilution with it!

Nice one Sam. Will have to get a new silvwr strip for mine at some point. Great you had the westfalia tow kit, mine didn't have that so had a TowTrust detachable fitted a couple of weeks back. Also waiting on new compressor for my AC, due in end of the month!! Cant wait to have AC. Cooled seats have helped though 👍. Also had ARBs replaced front and back, front upper and lower control arms and drop links. This week had rear arch liners out cleaned all dirt. Aquasteel rust prevention applied to areas needed then Lanoguard applied. 👍 Awaiting delivery of new arch liner fixings and weatherstrip before reassembly. Got a weatherstrip for front part of the rear arch as well, as not fitted from factory. Might have to do a video on all this. Lol. Look forward to the next one.

Hey Sam, I think our TDV8s were separated at birth. Our alternators went around the same time and we both have no a.c., but I do have now. The O ring was split right at the top easiest connector to get at just behind the grill. Gassed it and nothing. The guy told me the valve that goes in and out of the compressor has three O rings, that and the solenoid get jammed up. So over a few days I flicked the AC button on and off on the climate control and hey presto, AC like a Rangie should be, you could hang meat in it. I hope it works for you since I've heard changing the compressor is a heart breaker. Cheers from Ireland..
@SamsMotors3 жыл бұрын
Hey Rory, thanks for the comment! Yes sounds like they're in cahoots for sure. Glad yours was an easy fix on the A/C - not looking forward to changing the compressor but I think it might be easier than the alternator was. How do you find running the Rangie in Ireland? Have you looked at how fast the air compressor fills the dampers? On my vogue i have an issue now wich causes the car to only drive in normal heigt after having done some sharp turns. When this occurs i feel as if the car is some what stiff. Im hoping to fix thix with the new Arnott compressor ive bougt. But ive read that one can buy kits in the UK with air drying material and o-rings also a new suppressor witch could salve some air suspension problems. Try to borrow a compressor and see what happens is my advice.

That hitch from Land Rover was never bolted in. There was a pin with a clip that was used to secure it. @SamsMotors3 жыл бұрын
I know that you need to inform the ECU that a new battery has been installed - IID tool can do this but there are probably others. Whether or not that is what is causing your issues, I'm not sure. Reading and clearing the fault codes might do it anyway.

With your next job on the air con, my 2011 does the same, sometimes works sometimes doesnt, but ive noticed the voltage it is using is extremely high and this is draining the battery when I have it turned on. not sure if that is linked to your problem.
@SamsMotors3 жыл бұрын
Pretty much guaranteed to be the refrigerant control valve on the back of the compressor. You have to remove the compressor to get at it - so you may as well replace the whole thing at that point. I haven't got any battery drains but it definitely sounds like it could be linked on yours.

@jamest51493 жыл бұрын
I am surprised that the hitch is held with a single fixing, from an engineering point of view 2 retaining bolts is safer.
@SamsMotors3 жыл бұрын
It's fairly beefy being an M16 bolt loaded in double shear. I looked it up and the book spec for an 8.8 M16 bolt in that loading is about 120kN (~12 tonnes), so that should do! The 'slot' on the hitch slides over a pin further back in the receiver too, so any "up/down" force is shared between that and the bolt.
