San Jose moves to protect mobile home residents

It shouldn't be easy for the owner of the property to displace mobile home residents. The mobile homes are worth nothing without the lot. With conventional home ownership out of reach for most, mobile home parks are a good affordable housing option. If lot owners want to sell their business they can sell directly to an interested buyer. If they want to sell it to a developer, they will need to go through the process prescribed by the City.

The ironic thing is that mobile home parks are easily convert into high density condos and apartments. You want to add thousands of new residences to San Jose, then convert the mobile home parks into condos and apartments. The only way Santa Clara Valley is going to get more housing is through demolition and redevelopment.

There are no protections. You rent land, you have no recourse when you are informed of whatever. That's all.
