We moved from Minnesota to Schertz in 1984 when I was 10. When I graduated from HS, I moved to San Antonio for several years and now I’m happy to say I’m back in Schertz closing on a new home construction. Schertz is a great place to raise your family.

1 HEB on 35, and another close on Kitty Hawk, as well as Wal-Mart. But let's not forget about the "little guy" , Arlan's!!! If I'm not mistaken, used to be a Kroger back in the day.

I came across this by accident. I grew up in the original part of Schertz; down the road from Clemens HS. Interesting to see your take on it.

We love living in Schertz. One correction-Founders is not private. It’s a public charter school. All the schools are great but taxes are super high, especially if you live in the bexar county part of Schertz. You are so right about H‑E‑B. Wish south Schertz would focus on developing retail like that around the I10 corridor. And I would much rather have homes on those farmlands than hud apartments (which some developers and land owners -one of which is on the city council-are trying to force through zoning).

Yes Founders is a Charter school and is not part of the school zoning. Thank you. Taxes are much higher in Bexar county part of Schertz but there really isn’t more a a benefit living there. The city of Schertz is in 3 different counties, Guadalupe, Comal, and Bexar county. Retail development is DEFINITELY needed ont he south end of Schertz by I-10 corridor. Thanks for the awesome knowledge!

I live in Cibolo but I conduct 98% of my daily business in Schertz. It's a great city with a lot of community support.

I love me some Schertz. Close to Hwy 35 and being on the NE side of SA it’s close to New Braunfels and San Marcos. And even Austin isn’t too far away for a weekend trip.
@SanAntonioSuburbs2 жыл бұрын
Yes! What do you like about the town itself? Is it the vibe of the town, the shopping?
@Atothen12342 жыл бұрын
@@SanAntonioSuburbs I personally like the portions of Schertz that have rolling hills and mature live oaks… parks at woodland oaks subdivision and Jonas woods subdivisions are a couple that come to mind. Although Downtown Schertz could have more to offer I like how Schertz is close to the the cities I mentioned above… where as if you live in North or Northeast SA making the journey to Austin, San Marcos and even New Braunfels is kind of a hike. And I think Schertz is just a good bang for your buck as well.
@SanAntonioSuburbs2 жыл бұрын
@@Atothen1234 That is amazing insight. The location makes it super convenient to get around to New Braunfels and San Antonio in about 15-20 min and Austin in about 45. Those are great communities you named and to mention my favorite is the Homestead community right on IH 35. I’ve heard city council has a multi-million dollar budget to improve downtown Schertz to make it look more like New Braunfels but they haven’t started.

They are building a new H‑E‑B in Cibolo which will help with all the area resident being forced to the Schertz H‑E‑B! We have lived i n Schertz for 6 years and love it! We were not happy with the schools at all however and chose to send our daughter to a charter in San Antonio instead.

Yes! Thank you for the update and Cibolo “Downtown” is amazing! Should be less crowded at HEB when they open the new one 🙂
