We always have real candles on our tree. The key is having a real tree as it doesn't just go ablaze. And as Sandi says - be sensible with the candle placement. And never leave them burning unattended.

Back in the early 50s in Italy we always had candles on our tree - in an apartment (thankfully no smoke detectors or sprinklers in those days) and we did not have any fires either. 😂😂❤
