I think this banishment was the biggest slap the Lion had ever taken to that point, and it was that specificaly because it was Sanguinius. I say this because with Guilliman the Lion just argues, but to Sanguinius regreted his words. Also it feels like The Lions obesession to hunt Curze was very much like the current DA obesession to hunt the fallen. It turns them crazy to the point of thinking any means are justified by the end goal.

When the Lion said "I failed my father. I fear I also failed my brothers. I do not wish to fail my sons." I think the second portion in this refers to the scene in this video perfectly

You know, seeing how much he seems to care for Sanguinius, it explains in part how ballistic he goes in the immediate aftermath of the Heresy. He'd lost his father, and his favorite brother.

*He lost Sanguinius Cuz he was pretty much automatically the favorite brother of any primarch😅

Lion El’Lannister now: i was a bit of an asshole wasn’t i
It was probably also a moment of cruel reality for Sanguinius. He realized that he might not understand his brothers as well as he thought. The Lion is NOT a protector, he is a hunter. Asking him to defend is like asking Guilliman to be a warp scholar.

The crimes was the betrayal, the disobedience of the Lord he had chosen. Thrusting the word of a fellow Primarch was of paramount importance in the wake of Horus's Heresy.

The Lion's nature as a hunter is difficult for him to suppress. Perhaps impossible, at this point in his development. It is a major reason why Horus chose to use the Night Lords as a distraction. Having the laser focus of Lion and The First at his back would have been problematic for Horus. I believe this nature was inborn, and further developed during his youth on Caliban. Furthermore, The Lion has always stood alone. The First may not be the best at any single aspect of war, but they are good at everything. This makes them the perfect tool for solitary El'Johnson to use. He generally struggled to fully integrate other legions into his campaigns. And this contributed to the Emperor's choice of Horus over Lion as warmaster. The Lion's honorable bearing is part of the mask. In much the same way his brother Russ wears the barbarian's mask. The Lion's pragmatism would not allow him to fail to seize an opportunity, even if it meant breaking a vow. And in his mind at the very least, he stood above his brothers. Only the Emperor could command him, or enforce his oath. An oath to Guilliman was an oath to an underling. A tool, nothing more. A means by which he could secure strategic flexibility, in order to pursue his own ends. I believe this moment is the first true crack in Lion's armor of stoicism. A realization starts to wriggle in his brain. The realization that he does care for (at least some) of his brothers. The realization that he can't do everything alone. The realization that, even if some efficiency is lost, greater achievements are possible through cooperation. This is the beginning of him accepting that he could be wrong. The beginning of his character development. The beginning of 40k Lion: A man that can trust, and delegate outside of his legion.

i love the lion and all that he is however i personalty very much do not like almost all of Gav Throrpe's writings when it comes to them and his way of handling the first legion. or well most of the other Primarchs as well, the complete turn around in Gullimans attitude from Unremembered Empire to Angels of Caliban has sit very poorly with me. and though i love the fight between lion and the night haunter, i think a lot of the charters felt out of there natural pace here and just made them all way more distasteful of each other then they were in previous books.

The Lion is the exterminator. Russ was the public executioner. Russ was there to make a point to everyone else, the Lion was there to just make problems go away. Usually quietly

@orbitalbutt67573 ай бұрын
The emperor might very well have given him the lost legions treatment. Sanguinius was much nicer than his father.
@jacobfreeman54443 ай бұрын
The Emperor would not asked such a thing of the Lion in the first place. He knew what he had made of the Lion. So knew of how fruitless giving him a task and orders that goes against his ends justify the means mentality would be. That doesn't mean Sang was wrong to do what he did. Just that the Emperor knew what kind of things would suit the Lion best.

He was not. Pharos was possibly the most important thing in ultramar. Had he does what the said he would do or had he informed his brothers of the fact that he was in fact NOT doing what he said he was doing, then they could have taken appropriate measures. Not mentioning the oaths he broke to Sanguinius and guilliman or the damage Konrad did due to his incompetence and secrecy. The Lion is overrated.

i mean the Lion of 30k was the best duelist and one of the top 3 commanders among Primarchs if he wasnt so stupid when it comes to politics and feelings he would have been just too overpowered!!! the whole 40k would have been over!!! he was kind of his own worst enemy!!!! i think thats the reason that they had to age him so much in 40k and try to describe him as feeling weaker!! because wise Lion with full strength is just like superman of DC, no flaws no fun!!! Plus he has to be secretive thats coded in his genes so he could be the Emperors clean up guy and be trusted with so many super weapons!! i am 99 percent sure he had a hand in 2nd and 11th primarchs disappearance too ( that 1 percent is for russ doing whatever they did to them alone)
