The first soloist was a marching tech at my high school last year, incredibly lucky to have the guy.

Lip slurs, fundamentals! Range excercise.

I rank the notes I can play into 4 tiers: The ones I can hit every time, ones I can hit the majority of the time, ones I can sometimes hit, and notes completely above my range. I try to bring in as many notes to the 1st tier as possible before I start working on expanding upwards. I find that sounding good on somewhat high notes makes it MUCH easier to start hitting notes above your range. As for actual exercises, I focus mainly on long tones and lip slurs. I'm sure you can find others online. Hope this helps!

Also work on the lower registers. The higher registers take just as much air support as the lower ones. Also learn to push more air faster but still keeping it controlled and consistent

If you're a trombone/euphonium player and you've ever played tuba for longer than 30 minutes it's more likely than not that you will notice you get lightheaded really easily. But tuba players who've been playing for a year or 2 don't get lightheaded...because their bodies have adjusted to the amount of air that's required to play the tuba. My point is most Euphonium players who think they're using enough air.....aren't. Some of the most capable high range Euphonium players I know switched over from Tuba. But they didn't have that high range capability right out of the gate...they still had to teach their lips how to function in that range...but once they did, those tuba lungs kicked into gear and really allowed them to reach into the stratosphere. High Range is a combination of breath management and fine motor control in the aperture. "Lip Strength" *is* a part of it, but it's actually a pretty minor part in the grand scheme of things. You don't build high range by simply building lip strength, that's a common misconception.

Easily a top 5 show since the year 2000 (which is more of a condemnation of modern so-called drum corps that it is praise for SCV, but nevertheless, it was a great show).
