Thank you! Built as a GP7 in 1952, rebuilt as an EMD GP16. These guys do a great job with limited resources. Hopefully someone with deep pockets buys it. With all that's going on in Lamy, the SFS has a lot of potential.

Lamy is a special place. Since Amtrak stopped staffing it and the caretakers took over, I've made it a point to get to know them. They are great people. The Santa Fe Southern is based in Lamy so it isn't a problem to wander around as long as you stay within the boundaries of the platform and off the mainline. I met this mechanic in the place where the engine died and he's very open and willing to chat. He has no problem telling anyone interested what's going on and what he's working on. Along the Amtrak route and BNSF Southern Transcon it's a different story. Trespassers get reported all the time and get hit occasionally. It's a real problem. Since I moved back here I've met a number of Amtrak and BNSF crew members, many of whom are avid photographers themselves. I've learned a lot from them, including places to avoid and good spots to shoot from. And of course the occasional heads up.

Work is being done on 07 and three of the passenger cars to return them to service. Assuming the pandemic recedes soon, you will see it running this summer.
