I'm pretty sure the bridge at 1:01:50 is the location they used to film the episode of Breaking Bad "Dead Freight". Interesting to see it from this angle!

Beautiful scenery, and an interesting narrative on the past of the railroad and Lamy. Sure hope a plan can be put together to keep the line open and functioning. Right now it looks like Mother Nature is reclaiming the railbed. Feliz Navidad desde el Valle del Sol, mi amigo!

That's very cool. It may not run again this year, but by next year it will be reborn. You'll have to come back and ride it again!

I remember riding this line for their 4th of July train ride back around 2010-2011. The southwest style dinner and stopping near the local high school for the fireworks shows were awesome back then. Hopefully, the new owners can continue such events.

@ulrichskaarsgard7848
@ulrichskaarsgard7848 3 жыл бұрын
@@railroadmanteater Rail freight to Santa Fe is no more. All of the industrial spurs were removed when RailRunner rebuilt the tracks. The only possibility would be transloading in Lamy, but the focus of the new owners is primarily passenger service.

Nice looking GP unit ... love the freshly painted Blomberg trucks on the loco. I liked your narration. Sometimes (in general) the cab view or track view videos on some sites can get routine but your added narration really adds to the product. Heh .. did anyone notice some of the crossing gates were a little late early on? Maybe a timing issue since the consist was moving slow. You do great work. Thank you for posting.

Nice looking, but old. It currently has the diesel pulled out for repairs. It should be back in operation soon, though. I'm glad you liked the narration. It's always hard to get used to hearing your own voice. I agree about cab and track views, but I find that country mesmerizing to watch. I also did a track view of the Cumbres & Toltec from Lava Tank to Antonito. It might seem to some that it's boring, but again, I thought it was pretty cool seeing that point of view, especially with the Sangre de Cristos in the background.

@@YardLimit I viewed your Toltec video ... I loved it and watched all the way through. We took that train a little over a year ago. I love the high desert and the lonely water tank in the middle of it :) Look forward to 2020 with you.

I'm curious, how does the SFSR run on the RoadRunner trackage? Do they have to pay to use them and do they have to have a pilot to operate on it?
@YardLimit
@YardLimit 4 жыл бұрын
They don't have to pay them and they don't use a pilot. They coordinate with NMRX dispatch when they use shared track.

How many passenger cars do they own? Are there any spurs along the line where freight is loaded?
@YardLimit

I think they own 4 coaches now and several flat cars. I believe there is one spur in Santa Fe where equipment is stored but they no longer run freight.
