Most of us think we can run fast as we observe Sara and her training partner on KZbin. Then if we were at the track live; then the realization sets in just how lightning fast Sara is running. I have great respect for her talent and dedication.

A couple fun facts: 1. Bash Walio's time of 2:18:19 was good enough for 1st place overall in the Utah Valley Marathon 2. Ryan Hall was the keynote speaker at the expo for the Utah Valley Marathon in 2015. I got him to sign my race bib. The next day, Ryan ran the half-marathon with everyone else. I always thought that was pretty cool--especially for the 10 or so runners that finished before him. First time that one of these "celebrity" expo speakers actually ran the race, in my experience. His time is not listed on the results page (he mentioned that he would be using the race as a training run, not running competitively so maybe he asked them to remove his name from the results) but you can see video of him finishing here (about 25:16): kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnLMaGmwjMiKnLs

Thanks, great video. These intervals (100, 200m) after full-speed intervals should be done at an easy jogging pace, not at a moderate pace or something. Right? Strictly for recovery purposes, just like in between classic 1000m intervals for vo2max?

Sara seems to breathe hard a lot even when seems to hit these paces good in these workouts. Doing threshold workouts or even 5k pace reps I don’t go into that huff and puff mode. When I do some hard 200s-400s at like 2mile-800m pace I breathe like that. Fitness issue or just her style?
@BM-lw8bz
@BM-lw8bz 3 жыл бұрын
She was doing fast 300s off short recovery at high altitude then did some hard 400s after. A 400 in 62 for a distance runner is good hard work. The breathing matches the workload. If she was doing a tempo or even 10k style reps on the track it wouldn’t look/sound like this video. The title says 2k but that’s just floating I believe.
@timlofton6595
@timlofton6595 3 жыл бұрын
They're at almost 8,000 feet. That's taxing alone but combined with a workout like this, will have any elite breathing hard.
@timlofton6595
@timlofton6595 3 жыл бұрын
@@BM-lw8bz The first 2k was 300 hard/100 jog; the second 2k was 200 hard/200 float (harder IMO); then the 400s. That's a huffer.

The way I viewed it was more impeding than pacing. Anyone who's ridden a bike knows it isn't easy to get into a pacing rhythm when starting from a full stop OR over a short distance. No disrespect but it did not look optimized for either runner or rider.
