Please just always throw the "jennies" (she-crabs) back. While it's not illegal, there is no good reason to harvest them. Leave them to continue to reproduce and keep your crabbing spots well stocked for future visits.
@SarahandKeelanTravels2 жыл бұрын
Hey Lyall, Harvest is a very loose term for taking 1 crab😂. I agree you shouldn’t take lots of them. Myself and sarah were hunting to eat dinner that night and taking 1 female will not effect anything in the slightest. You should focus your attention to the Yorke peninsula and some of the “crabbing towns” we witnessed 100s of females being caught and taken. It’s 100% legal but not okay. The fisheries conduct sample testing of the area to determine crab population. in South australia crab population is booming.. more so than most other states and that’s why it’s legal to take females. Like I said focus your attention on the crabbing towns, not us only taking what we need from the ocean. We hunt in the most sustainable manners possible.

are you not supposed to release female crabs?
@SarahandKeelanTravels2 жыл бұрын
Not in some states, it all depends on area to area and how they are breeding and numbers. Fisheries then deem it legal or illegal to take the females. I do know that in QLD it is illegal to take females as they are trying to increase crab stock in the state
