Great overview Sarah! I know we've talked about this before, how does Costa Rica scrutinize the money used to buy a house? Like, if I transfer funds from my Chequing account in Canada into an Escrow account, are there any additional steps I need to take as a foreigner to prove the origins of my funds aren't the proceeds of nefarious activity? A letter from the bank, for example?

How do you deal with insects as a homeowner over there? I mean mosquitos, spiders, scorpions, and possibly snakes. I heard that the top hill houses are worse because of the forest being closer. Also, heard that having lavender around the house will keep most of them out of the house. Some told me about insecticide (natural or chemical) spraying around the house? Which are true and which aren't? Thanks. Excelent video BTW

Hello! We just fumigate the home and that takes care of most issues. Also closing doors/windows that don’t have screens by sunset time. Don’t leave clothes and things on the floor.

Hi Sarah,great video because I’m looking at a lot in Tambor beach and looking at a mondule home builder and he did ask the questions about water, soil… I do know the 2 people who own the lot here in Canada and are selling it because they never got around to turning into a air b&b. Are you familiar with the area and is it a good area for an air b&b ? Thanks Sarah

They are low! Much lower than the USA at least. Not sure in comparison to other countries. 0.25% of homes declared value with the municipality. So if you bought it for $300k for example but it’s only declared at the muni for $200k. You pay the 0.25% on the declared municipal value

don't worry, you can find plenty of blogs on how to evade taxes, go every 6 months to the border, stay there for half a minute and then come back for another 6 months. And...all this while you buy up all the land and gentrify the soul out of our country. We can't wait for your arrival, you're super welcome to visit and stay here FOREVER
