Oh Sarah, I love everything you teach me! I have to be careful to watch your videos in the evening. If I watch in the morning, nothing on my 'to do' list gets done. TY Sarah. As always, I so enjoy watching your tutorials. Speaking of slow stitch, when I was little, my Gran showed me how to sew by making those slow stitches..it was fun, but I had NO idea that what I was learning to do then would become one of my favorite past-times now in my 60 + years. Slow stitching has only one rule and that is to have fun!! Very therapeutic process. Cheers from sunny FL. :-)

Hi Sarah! You're quite the inspiration. Your teaching style inspired confidence in me to pick up a needle and thread, and create my own origami fabric butterflies. I've made several as brooches, which were a big hit as Christmas gifts! I use the little rectangles of fabric as my stitch samplers for practice and, since the fabric gets folded up, any not-so-perfect stitches become part of the charm of the butterfly. Thanks so much for your goodness in sharing!

I thought these would be brilliant to use on my windows to prevent bird strike. My first time having a go at this and I made the mistake of cutting some very firm 100% upholstery linen (from a sample book) as the backing fabric, and quickly realised it was going to be difficult to fold at 4"x3" if I added other fabrics. Wanting to try out the folds anyway, I used the fabric on its own and used the patterned side as the right side. Of course it's not perfect, yet I'm delighted, and looking at it I'm going to have the peaceful pleasure of doing some practice stitches and sewing on some sparklies, which I love and will make my kaleidoscope of butterflies even more of a deterrent to birds hurting themselves this coming spring. Thank you Sarah, your wonderful tutorial will definitely save fledgling lives. x

I'm making one of these right now - I was so inspired by this. I like your reminders about slowing down, not being perfect, and just playing with my fabrics. One thing I did was to use a glue stick to glue-baste my pieces onto the base -- I wanted to get right to the slow-stitching!
