Hi Sarah , I am interested in the gorgeous goldwork embroidery I always thought it was way to hard! Now seeing this I have bought one of your lovely kits to see how I go. Would the kite tutorial be the best as I do love this Lettering one too perhaps I could create my own letter and design. Thank You for sharing you have really inspired me.

I have only recently found your channel and I am learning so much! May I ask why you painted rather than stitched the blue? I one more "traditional" than the other? Gorgeous in any case!!

Simple piece made simple to do, I like the way you pull your big gold threads through, I will try that in future and it makes life easier and a better result, but I've still not cracked the sewing down on reverse of the thick threads, mine become bulky and I have to separate the threads and then sew down individually but I do use thicker threads in my work. I do use your online shop too and FB. Great stuff.🌹
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind comments Elaine, glad you are finding useful! Yes tie down bulky threads one at a time; the ones I use tend to be quite fine so I will make a judgement if I think I can sew two or more down together. If you mount your gold pieces you can put a layer of padding/wadding on the back to cushion the bulky ends so that they don't show.

Wonderful videos! I was wondering if for the couching you could use polyester thread rather than cotton, and if you could embroider on to wool felt. I'm afraid to plunge my cords as I'm nervous that the fabric will not be able to handle it. Amazing videos!
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery5 жыл бұрын
The thread is polyester Seth in this case; I find cotton just breaks too easily. You can also embroider on anything you like! I would advise however, that for more unusual fabrics like felt that you experiment on a spare bit first to see what happens. You could also consider an iron on vilene to give the felt some stability if it's looking a bit fragile.

You had to have had me in mind when you made this ... the letter "S" and in blue! Simply gorgeous. I have two questions ... What fabric did you use and why did you make those random stitches along the lines ? Thank you so much for making this video.
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery7 жыл бұрын
The fabric is a cream medium weight linen Stephanie and the little stitches are holding stitches worked at the beginning and end of a length of thread to stop it coming undone. Much better than unsightly knots!
