17:18 From what I understand. the numbers shown are not human readable.Its something only shinigamis can understand. So even though we saw the numbers they are technically meaningless to us. But now that I think about it, I assume one would be able to calculate how much life span is remaining from the number remaining and rate at which it goes down? But it is also possible that numbers don't necessarily go down and follow a different algorithm that only the shinigami understand. in the story and for any human who owns a death note, the only significance about the lifespan is, is that if the human with the eye cannot see another person's lifespan, then they can come to the conclusion that they also own a death note, which is what Misa did in the last episode.

In one of the earlier episodes, Ryuk mentioned converting it to human time, so yes it does not make sense as is for humans, no idea if same situation for humans with eyes (do they see it converted to human time?). As for calculation, I would say impossible as "natural causes" include murder such as Misa's situation where she is supposed to be killed by a stalker, but can be influenced as shown later.

Glad to hear Adam is really enjoying the show. I think the biggest barricade to overcome is suspending your own bias against Light and just enjoy the wit and banter with everyone around him. This is not a flashy anime with sword battles and magic spells so if you don't enjoy the expose and dialogue then its just a dreadful experience.

@@SarahPavanAnime The genders of the shinigami (as well as their "shinigami level" which ranks them) are revealed in a official data book. They don't come up in the story itself. Ryuk is male (and ranked the 6th shinigami) while Rem is female (and ranked as the 4th). The Shinigami king is ranked at 0. Their individual stats are as such: Ryuk: Intelligence 6/10 - Curiosity 10/10 - Proactiveness 9/10 - Sympathy 5/10 - Murder Count 7/10 Rem: Intelligence 7/10 - Curiosity 3/10 - Proactiveness 10/10 - Sympathy 9/10 - Murder Count 4/10

I think it's revealed in the story itself, through the dialogue... But It's been a few years since I've read it, so I might be wrong. Still, in the official Polish translation of the manga I own there were translation notes explaining that they were careful to use nngendered language to talk about, adress etc Rem up until a certain point... So yeah, I think it's been revealed through the dialogue

I red recentely that you have to divide the number for 3556, and the result is the number of days in the human calendar than a person still has to live. Divide this result for 365, and you'll get the year.

I'll stay with him, even if he beat me up everyday and even treats to kill me!"... this are not enjoyable character to watch, but they definitely exist in the real World too, unfortunaly. Girls especially. And also the "love at first sight" bullshit... I've personally met a lot of girls who talked to me about this "Love at first sight" bullshit.

I can actually relate to me because my parents and cousin got killed and the killer didn't go to prison so he living a good life which I hate but the only difference is that I don't have a death note and I'm a kind person that sadly gets used by people, get bullied and I get hated because my uncle is a bad person, my first gf (ex now) cheated on me with my only friend (ex friend now) I'm 18 and I'm a loner/quiet person now

Basically if a human’s lifespan extends after a shinigami writes a name down and that brings intentional merit to the shinigami the shinigami dies. Names written by a shinigami are meant to be done in cold blood only to shorten lives… would be my take on this 😂

What about when he killed Naomi Misora in cold blood, and then, when she was going to commite suicide, even mocked her with his stupid smirk, and then he even questioned her with: "Are you sure you don't want to call my dad again? Maybe now he has turn on his phone..." showing to her his TUNED OFF cellular phone... I HATE HIM! Everytime someone makes him sweat, and treating his life, menacing to arrest him, he SADISTICALLY ENJOY killing them in a cruel way...
