I mean I think they want to make it very clear to us that it's not an act. Ever since he said get rid of it, his face has completly changed and gotten softer. And we know that Light before the death note was always on the side of the police, so it to me isn't a stretch that he would want to solve the kira case. Especially as he said it was ok for him to be kira, because he is the smartest and best (absolutely a narcisstic complex). So anybody else that is not him, who he sees as below him, he would be abhorred by if they wanted to do the same thing.
@KadurOrdo3 күн бұрын
21:55 Ryuk mentioned that anybody who used a Death Note before, was somewhat cursed. What we see here now is how Light actually is, without being corrupted by the usage and posession of the book. His maniac-like behaviour resulted from the use of the notebook, when he tried to justify the killings to himself. His usually high self-esteem transformed into a god complex which resulted in paranoia and what not.
@gabrielesolletico65423 күн бұрын
Bullshit. Light was a psycopath with a God complex even BEFORE getting the Death Note. In fact, as we will see, he thinks he shares the vision of Kira even when he don't remember he's Kira.
@TheHunterkiller963 күн бұрын
To me, Light's massive shift in personality here was because his god complex developed to escape from his guilt of having killed people. Without his memories of Kira, he doesn't have that god complex anymore, so he is back to being the person who felt extreme guilt from having killed two criminals.

Light without his memories fascinates me. He really is a completely different person than Kira without his memories. Right now he is just back to where he was before he picked up the Death Note and killed people. A firm believer in the law, and wanting to make the world a better and safer place from the bad people in the world. His mind is no longer corrupted by the power to enact his own justice. So he falls back on the sense of justice that his father instilled in him. Before his morals became twisted with absolute power. He is no longer corrupt. In his mind he is innocent of all wrong doings. Without the power to kill with the Death Note... Light would have likely just become a police officer like his dad. Or maybe he would need more excitement, and become a notable detective like L. Without the Death Note though... there would have been no Kira. Light would have still found a way to hunt down bad guys... but he wouldn't be a murderer.

I didn’t discover it until after it was fully done then watched the whole thing in a few days and loved it. Cheers!

Sorry, Light lives to kill another day. But yeah, having Light not remembering his time with the Death Note, you have to take it as a new person, one who doesn't believe he's done horrible things. Adam is 100% right about us not knowing Light before he got the book and how having incredible power with the knowledge that you can get away with it will change a person's character. I'm positive everyone you know and see around you in the world are good people, mainly due to the fact there are social norms and laws set up that guide us to be what is considered "normal, good people". But you can't tell me with a straight face there isn't times you wish the worst would happen to someone because you were slighted. For Light who has seem to have forgotten everything related to the book and it's use, he has basically been reset as a character in all aspects to that "normal, good" person we all are.
@gabrielesolletico65423 күн бұрын
No, he's not "normal, good" Lol You Light fans really need to STOP saying that "It was only the book's fault", because it WASN'T! Now, I can't do spoilers, but we know that not everyone feel the compulsion to use the notebook, when they get their hands on it... someone will just burn it. Moreover, even when he's back to "normal" and he's collaborating to the case, he can't help but think that "Uhmmmm, I agree with ALMOST everything Kira has done"...

@@gabrielesolletico6542 This mindset suggests that people who side with Kira don't exist. The whole major hook of the show is that a lot of people actually would be ok with something close to what Kira does because they know how bad things are and have nothing to fear except for a better world. People who think Kira isn't appealing at all are people who are ignorant of how evil people actually can be in the world.
@gabrielesolletico65422 күн бұрын
@@Sogekidan I'm not ignorant about how people can be evil in this World, I can assure you. And you were pretty baldy assuming that. But what Light did was DISGUSTING: not only he killer criminals, even when they were already IN PRISON, so not harmfull for anyone, but he killed with NO REMORSE Raye Penbar, all the FBI agent, and Naomi Misora. So, people who ideally were ON HIS SIDE, fighting against the criminals. And he did ONLY because he's super afraid of prison, NO OTHER REASON: in episode 2 of this show, he showed us that he gladly prefer TO BURN THE DEATH NOTE rather than being caught in his possession. So much for all his bullshit like "I put my mind, my soul and my won life at risk to accomplish my mission!". You must be very naive and childish, to beam Team Light. Moreover, a World where people do the right thing just because they're terribly afraid of a tyrant, instead because they evolved, and choose to do the right thing, is not a better World. You can't force people to act according to YOUR MORAL, like the woke wave is showing us: people just rebel. Also, in the real World, if Light methods were effective, the Countries where there is still the Death Penalty should be those with the lowest criminality, and we perfectly know that this isn't the case.
@gazeinthesky2 күн бұрын
@@gabrielesolletico6542 This is a very childish viewpoint to Light's character. When Light is saying that "I might agree with Kira's ideals.." he's trying to gaslight himself into finding a reason why L would suspect him. By your logic, Matsuda is also a horrible person, as volume 13 proclaims him to be pro-kira. Light's character is a delusional character, and that's why he becomes Kira in the first place. Out of guilt. It's also why he spares no remorse for the FBI agents. He's convinced himself it's for the greater good with a net positive.. it's delusion at its finest (while the net positive statement is true). Also, for your statement about the death penalty, that just isn't true. There are countries who have implemented things similar (not as bad ofc) to Light's ideals (i believe it was a Latin American country you can search it up) and they only yielded positive results. Of course, that's only one part of the rule but it doesn't NOT make sense for some people in different parts of the world to agree with Light's "ends justify the means" logic, as that's what is persuading Light to go on, anyway. As seen in the video, when Light gives up his memories, he doesn't want to manipulate people. But when he had his memories before, he does. This is what they mean behind Light "sacrificed his sense of self" because he DID. He sacrificed his principles and everything that made him.. him in the first place.
@gabrielesolletico65422 күн бұрын
@@gazeinthesky Bullshit. Again, bullshit. Light isn't "Gaslighitng himself", what the heck is that? We can hear his INTERNAL MONOLOGUE, it's clealry he has no reason to NOT being honest since no one can hear him! Also, like I said: in ep. 2, he set up a trap who will DESTROY the Death Note, if someone manage to find the false bottom in the drawer of his desktop. When Ryuuk ask him why he would do such a thing, he clearly says: "Without the Death Note, there will be NO PROVES that I'm Kira!". This clearly explain that, for Light, NOT BEING CAUGHT is FAR MORE IMPORTANT than succed in his goal of "an ideal World"... how you contestate this too? Moreover: even if killing the FBI Agents would have been "necessary" (and it really WASN'T: Raye Penbar was about to write in his relation that Light was above any suspicious...) why does Light HAVE to MOCK his victims, right before killing them? Like when he says "Sayounara" do Raye Penbar, to let him know that he was Kira all along; and when he laughs in Naomi Misora's face, and even ask her if she wants to try to call his dad again, SHOWING HER A TUREND OFF PHONE? He's clearly having a SADISTICAL satisfaction in making his VICTIMS suffer even more... can you deny that? That's typical of a childish ego; he want to win, and he thinks he could win easily, because he's so intelligent... when someone makes him sweat, he has to TAKE HIS REVENGE on them, making them SUFFER while they're about to die, AND LETTING THEM KNOW THAT HE WAS KIRA ALL ALONG, to demonstrate his "superiority" over them, and he also LAUGH IN THEIR FACES when he do this. He was the villain all along! "You can search on internet" DUDE EVERY DICTATORSHIP COMPRIME THE INDIVIDUAL LIBERTIES OF INDIVIDUALS IN THE NAME OF A SUPERIOR GOOD, AND IT NEVER ENDS WELL! Or are you supporting dictatorships too? Moreover, look at the United States: is there Death Penalty there? YES. Are the United States a Country with a low criminal ratio? No, the criminal ratio there is incredible high, especially if we consider violent crime as manslaughter and armed robbery, battery etc.

Honestly, something that bothered me was why wasn't Light traumatized after L made his dad shoot him? Also, a blank that close to your face is guaranteed to last some damage. Adding to that, I'm surprised people don't talk about how cruel it was for L to do that, because in a court of law, there was no reason for L to do that except for him basing everything off his intuition, which doesn't fly in situations like that.
@kuroiyuri1863 күн бұрын
People have been missing out on L's actions since the beginning. He sacrificed another person to Kira in the second episode, but no one actually cares about that. L is also not just "saving lives", though he is more righteous, still, he is in the grey area because of that. But people only see the better side of him, because with Light as a comparison, they think he is doing good things. I mean, look at how Misa was locked up as well. That also cannot be considered normal, even if we say, he didn't know, how Kira made the killings, and he "had to" tie her up like that. It will never catch people's attention for some reason. :"D Because then who would be the one they would root for, right? (Btw, I love both of them, but I guess I'm still team-Light. xD He makes more interesting steps, and more creative, and L is more like following him one step behind - imo.) (As of Light having trauma - not every people are like that. Even if he is not Kira, he doesn't seem like an emotion driven person, and he wouldn't be traumatised so easily. I would say it is more of a surprise that Misa was not affected that much, since she is way more reactional and emotional than Light.)

Plus, Light has his own daddy as the chief detective investigating on himself, and he can access his dad's computer. Now, with all those advantage, L manage to caught Kira off guard several times: when he does his tv announcement in episode 2, when he understand that Kira has connection with the Japanese police, because Light stupidly changes his modus operandi the istant the police start to think that the culprit may be a student... when L realize immediately that there is a second Kira, when he realizes that the two Kiras has met even if the second Kira says she will cease to try to contact the first one... when he introduces himself in person at the University, that thing throw Light out of his mind, and he ends up having a tantrum when he's back at home... when he told Light "Oh, anyway, I told everyone at HQ that, if I die in the next few days, you're Kira"... but your say that "L is a step behind Light" yeah man, sure!! :) Lol

I didn't say L didn't had good moves against Light, but Light was quick to respond every time, so L didn't really get in front of him, PURELY because Light had the Death Note, and even when L knew about the Death Note, you know, what happened. But now there is so much better stuff to watch anime-wise, or on netflix, or any other platforms that going through boring stuff feel way more insufferable . watching 7/10 show you like is okay, watching 7/10 show that is mostly boring or annoying just because there are some epic scenes sprinkled here and there... maybe acceptable in 90's but now its just waste of time that can be used instead to watch 10/10 show Granted, we live in era where binging whole show in one afternoon is possible so boring parts are not nessecarily as annoying in these circumstances as you just fly through, but in case of week to week its horrible

Death Note is still amazing when there are better things to watch, which i can't tell what they are because anime these days are filled to the brim with horrendous ecchi harem & isekai. A quick peek at Netflix shows that the anime category is currently being disgracefully penetrated by those two genres with the series names as long as Fall Out Boy song titles. There's a reason why Death Note collected such huge following for almost 20 years and it is still considered a masterpiece in such a saturated anime market. The "boring stuff" only happened because your attention span & ability to think intellectually have been reduced to ashes due to overexposure to those aforementioned types of current anime.
