@MyFictionalChaos7 ай бұрын
I actually have been using Milanote for cosplay for a few weeks now LOL. It is actually incredibly useful. I had been seeing so many KZbinrs sponsored by it, and I finally caved out of curiosity. Even tho it is meant for like website design & other tech fields I found it works for my other creative processes like art & cosplay. You can copy and paste any pic or upload your own pics to it. The reason I use it is bc cosplay planner apps only exist on my phone, and I like to have something I can interact with on PC/desktop. So I can use it while I'm at work & not get distracted by my phone. I like to use it for color picking bc it **automatically** detects color from your reference image. I then copy & paste fabrics and see how closely they line up with the reference! The mobile version is not as good, but it is easy to take with me on fabric store trips. So far I have been able to use the app to help me pick out fabrics from joann's. It also has to-do lists & you can add links to different patterns, tutorials, & references for you to view later. I use it so much that I actually ran out of the free space RIP

I disagree! Sleeves are the devil's work because of the fit and 360° mobility. Pants only have to go in a certain direction. Therefore much much easier to fit. If you can sew sleeves that you can flail your arms around in you can do pants. I promise. I've been sewing for over 10 years and make all my daily wear clothes (clothes that HAVE to move).😉

Teto was an April fools joke made by LOTS of people on 2chan. People would create outfits and concepts of what she should look like on 2chan, the people credited in the wiki just created the final touches. And then she was set for April fools, but people took her seriously, and now we're here. The redesign having her wear military styled clothing is probably a reference to some of the original concept ideas people had created for her since multiple people created concepts of her in military uniforms for shits and giggles.
@medipsti7 ай бұрын
Yeah, Teto's outfit was always meant to be a military uniform. It was the prompt chosen before any of the concept artworks were even created. And it's still part of Teto's official profile to this day, as seen on her official website. Teto's original KEI style illustration design doesn't really have military elements except for the pockets, but there were previous versions of the same illustration where the outfit had a green military camouflage pattern.

If you ever do a military-esque cosplay again, you might try soutache. It’s the fancy swirling lines you see on fancy military uniforms. Sounds scary, but it’s made using a kind of flat braid, so you can stitch it flat without couching or bunching. It might work better.

Back in the 70s I played D&D. In 1978 my friends and I got tickets to DunDraCon II. We had a 'table', and my friend and I were going to DM a game. Our other friend, Trish, announced that we couldn't go UNLESS we went 'in costume. It took a while to decide what a DM would look like in the game, but Trish and Steve and I ended up sewing our own stuff up! We looked like dorky teens, and I was terrified of being seen(I didn't know I had issues with crowds and being judged until years later...I was just terrified), but we were overwhelmed by the welcome we got from everyone who saw us there. Thanks for advocating for what you love, and maybe I'll try to 'character up' again someday!

I have a Kenmore serger that my grandmother had, and it's a pain to thread! I typically just leave it for a while and pick projects that are that colour. The way you're making the skirt with panels, reminds me of how I'm making a Zelda cosplay. I'm doing the OoT version and instead of doing the stripes in the skirt any normal way, I decided to make the skirt as a series of panels as a trumpet/gored skirt. I think there are like 12 panels or something, and I'm top stitching the stripes on each panel, and then serging up the panels. I started it quite a few years ago, and I realized I was way over my head. But someday. It's those really detailed ones that are fun to figure out how to make it work.

i think something so cool about teto as a character is that she started out as kind of just a fun little joke character for everyone, using a voice synthesizer software that wasn't really as high quality as vocaloid but having all of the charm of one as a character; and now she has grown to such a degree that she has become part of the vocal synthesizer software that a lot of people agree has surpassed vocaloid in quality. it's cool to see OUR girl grow to such heights!!!

Serger threads: cut them next to your spool, put new color in, knot them together with as small knots as you can and carefully sew scrap piece of fabric until you see knots coming towards your 2 needles. Stop, cut knots away, thread thread trough your needles and hold them while you continue your scrap tester little bit forward. And as some have already said, librarys have so many good things to offer these days, check them up.

Nichole Rudolph And Bernadette Banner have done Victorian style Suit Jackets for women of the era but they pretty much do everything you wanted to do (including how to "hem" those types of jackets where they're nice and clean and won't become too short) and they explain how to do it and a bit of the history behind why they were done that way. I figured I should let you know of Historical Fashion youtube to help you out in your journey as it may give you more ideas on how to pull off what you want in the future and maybe more options for patterns. Also figured in case you wanted to attempt that personal jacket that you were hoping to get out of the mockup but it didn't come out as you hoped.

AAH the way i screamed when i saw the notification for this!!!!!!!!! the vipperloids have been my absolute favorite type of voicebanks since i was like, 11, so seeing this is so heartwarming and nostalgic. my favorite was namine ritsu, whom im hoping to make a cosplay of sometime as well. you absolutely nailed the tailoring portion, everything looks so clean and legit, i cant wait to see how you made the wig!!

THANKS for showing all these techniques on the jacket. I am eager to use this in my next project. I can see you lengthened the pattern to fit to your body and I will do that as well. This jacket looks so GOOOOD

I swear the new techniques you try come at the perfect time for projects I'm trying myself!! Will definitely be looking at that jacket lining technique (thankfully what I'm making is much less fitted ahahah)
