I do the very work that you do here in the United States , you should put enough air in the tire to hold the lock ring in place but do not air up the tire till it on the truck ! This will help prevent a three piece rim coming apart and not caged between the two tires And or the tire to blow out when you are putting the tire on the truck ! Only pump up the tire after you have removed your jacks and the tire is secure on the truck and you are away from it ! I have seen cracks in the locking ring on them type of wheels and if it break it would be bad !! I have also see tires blow out setting in a parking lot and not going down the road ! I hope this will keep you safe and able to do this type of work for years to come to support your family ....

This pressure - operated jack is some pretty useful piece of equipment I haven't seen yet! No levers, no cranks - no sweat! Easy! Throughout the procedure we can watch here - pulling the rims first, then the tyres - we can also see that these trucks are the last of the Dinosaurs, technically spoken: bias tyres (check the size, 10.00 - 20, so it's not a radial tyre), split rims, and other interesting technical features rooted in the past. But still running.
@raymonster55 Жыл бұрын
Radial tires came off. I didn't know that old bias ply nylons were still around. Do they still make them or are they still using old stock?
@jurgenkuhlmann9194 Жыл бұрын
@@raymonster55 Sorry, no idea! Maybe these tyres are still being made with a lower price in mind. Old stock? Bias tyres are not made anymore since the late 1970s or so, so any stock of vintage rubbers would be very hard to find. However, Nylons are still manufactured for some vintage cars the rims of which do not accept radials. One company called Mitas, situated in the Czech republic, is a specialist for vintage nylon tyres.
@raymonster55 Жыл бұрын
@@jurgenkuhlmann9194 Thank you so much for your reply. I wasn't sure exactly when the bias ply tires were officially discontinued. I know that they still offer new bias ply tires for light duty trailers. You can get Koker brand tires for older vehicles, many look like the bias tires they are replicating but are actually modern radial construction.
@basiltaylor8910 Жыл бұрын
@@raymonster55 You mean cross ply tyres?' I think China manufacture cross ply tyres, as some vintage lorries and buses, cannot be fitted with tubed or tubeless radial tyres. So there is a limited market for cross ply tyres especially among those owning a 1930,50,s vintage lorry ,bus ,or coach.

And as for putting that curved bit of metal through the holes in the wheel that would be completely useless.
