Buffalo 66' is one of few feature films to be shot on reversal stock - it was an older 35mm stock used to shoot American football games in the 60s, by the late 90s very few labs had the chemistry to produce this kind of film but Gallo was so tenacious that he decided to shoot on it before he secured a lab to produce it meaning that those involved in the production of the film couldn't even be certain that it would ever see the light of day. One of my favourite films of all time.

In Lithuania - where I'm from - we had a tv show called 'Film Snob Nigh'. It was on every thursday night at 10pm on the Lithuanian National Channel. The host would tell a story for a few minutes (like some thing about philosophy/psychology/history/human nature, etc.) and then move into talking about the film. He would summarise why the movie matters so much (how impactful it was, how good the performances were, the accolades it received) and then they would show the movie. They mainly showed cult films (2001, The Exorcist), indie films (the Big Lebowski) or just films that stood out in some kind of way (Eternal Sunshine, Angela's Ashes). That's where I saw Buffalo 66 on. I'm so grateful that that show was around when I was growing up and I got exposed to films like this. It introduced me to a love of film I never knew before.

@Õ_Õ Psycho Mantis Yeah, it's not a HUGE film by any means. I think most people don't even know about it. Which is a shame. But I have seen it on some 'greatest indie films of all time' lists, so it does get some recognition here and there. Also, your neighbour prolly had good taste.

"The Irishman" was the only last mob movie since Martin Scorsese wanted to come back to make another mafia masterpiece and since this movie came out in limited theaters and streaming on Netflix, I was surprise that this movie felt like a good comeback with three incredible granddaddies of De Niro, Pacino, and Pesci and taking back where Scorsese made every mafia scenes including business, having conversations in every Italian restaurants or cafes, having a bowling, and making characters feel guilt for doing bad kills and business felt very interesting in this 3 hour runtime. It's great that this movie is probably my favorite and much like "Goodfellas," "The Departed," and "Casino" it could be only last Scorsese mafia movie I would re watch it more.
@getmario644 жыл бұрын
"Marriage Story" is actually a great movie of this year and it's more of real people's reality relationship that they've been going through for their marriage and whether or not they still be together or just separated in different certain ways of life. Both ScarJo and Adam Driver are incredibly good and they seem very real to have their performances to be in emotional and kept their roles as they portrayed as real life marriage couples. The best part reminds me when my family have struggle problems especially my two sisters who kept a long relationship have huge issues and for me, just trying to set my reality with myself and trying to prove better in my life so is where Driver literally screaming and outburst with an incredible performance and I felt sorry for him because of his long life career and having problems with her ex wife just felt kind a work if they can't stand for themselves and tear down apart if they couldn't handle their opportunities of praising life. It felt real and watching these two have different approaches to get away from marriage, can be real for most parts of getting married or being with somebody. I actually find it interesting and sure, some people will not know about this movie (if they have Netflix or not) should recommend this movie. No liar reveals and we know its a dramatic film with problems of love life and it's done so good. Yo I hate when society created the entire memes and complain about movies that are great which they don't know, it's a such a waste and why do people still praise "Joker" compare to other Internet these days? Just keep it real people, it's a marriage movie and I think it's a great movie if I don't complain about this or what.

There is some context to the dinner scene. When Billy is on the phone with his mother at the dance class, he is expanding on a ruse he's been carrying on since his jail time and keeps having to repeat information to his mother, who is most likely preoccupied with watching a Buffalo game at the moment. The phone call clues us in on what Billy's parents are going to be like before we meet them.

The problem with "vote with your wallet" is A: Most average people have a casual interest in movies at best and will generally go to theaters for casual "night out" popcorn experiences and B: Disney, through mergers and aggressive campaigns of mass marketing and shady practices against independent theaters effectively forcing them to do what Disney demands, has created a monopoly in Western media. Your average Joe after working your average job does not go out to the movies for engaging, introspective art. He goes there for casual entertainment. Disney has a monopoly on casual cinematic entertainment. Disney has proven to be increasingly willing to squeeze out independent films from theaters to maximize profit. "Voting with you wallet" only works in a healthy market environment where competitors have equal access to consumers. Disney has monopolized that market and to be honest, needs to have their monopoly broken up. But given that they are a media company which primarily produces entertainment that may take a while as more pressing issues regarding corporations poisoning the environment or producing unhealthy foods or using sweat-shop labor take precedent over a corporation that makes Marvel and Star Wars movies.

I really did enjoy buffalo. I thought it was strange and weird. I do think it's very much reality-based fantasy. I think the reason she was so fine with getting kidnapped is that Layla is the definition of a manic pixie dream girl. Which isn't always a good thing but I didn't mind it. she was very fun to watch. I also found the main character to be irritating but I did enjoy him a lot. I have a love for characters who are written as bad people. I really love baggage and damage for characters. I think people relate to the bad much more than the good. Anyway, loved hearing your opinions guys!

A huge reason he doesn't go through with killing the guy is the image of his parents at his grave going through his head. His parents have always created negative situations throughout the film and his life but ironically because they were so terrible it made him not do the thing that would've ended everything. Scott also hands him a shot and Billy does this half smile for a second and tells Goon/Rocky how he seemed like a nice guy and reflected on all the times they were rooting for Scott.
