**** This video is a masterpiece that I have watched more than 75 times. Every time I hear the KORK Orchestra begin playing, I feel a surge of emotion because I know what is coming next: the most amazing rendition of Unchained Melody by the incomparable Angelina Jordan. She has a voice of an angel and a talent beyond words. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Some ask why Angelina Jordan would pick Unchained Melody for this event, Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award remains in Iran. One of the most popular and enduring love songs of all time, Unchained Melody, has a surprising origin. It was composed for a 1955 film called Unchained, which tells the story of a man who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. He yearns to be free and reunite with his wife and children, who are waiting for him outside. The song captures his emotions of loneliness, hope and longing, and has been covered by many artists over the years, but none in my lifetime of 76 years have conveyed such emotion as Angelina Jordan did at this performance. © Larry D. By now, most of Angelina's fans know the story behind this, but for anyone that is unaware of the context and importance of this performance: The video starts by saying that Angelina is there to honor a cause, and for that reason she performed this song with especial reverence to the honoree and her family. Narges Mohammadi is in prison for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran. What is truly disturbing is that she was sentenced to a total of 31 years and 154 lashes. There are three things that make it particularly significant: Angelina is Norwegian and Norway is the home of the Nobel Peace Prize; her grandmother is Iranian; and Unchained Melody was written about a prisoner longing to be reunited with a loved one. It must be especially heart wrenching for Angelina, given her Iranian heritage and her empathy for the disadvantaged and downtrodden. It is even harder on Narges' husband and her two children, who are the same age as Angelina and received the award on behalf of their mother.

John Gary vs Angelina Jordan Unchained Melody **** One of the most memorable experiences of my life was seeing John Gary perform live in Seattle, WA, when I was 20 years old. He had such a powerful and beautiful voice that filled the whole auditorium. During the break, he sat down on the edge of the stage and played his guitar, singing Unchained Melody with so much emotion and passion. It was a sublime moment that I shared with my wife, and I felt like we were the only ones in the room. At that time, I thought to myself; how could anyone top that performance, but 56 years later a 17-year-old Angelina Jordan just did. Angelina Jordan's performance at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Norway in 2023 blew me away. She sang with such passion and emotion that I felt every word in my soul. She truly captured the essence of the song and made it her own. and she is only 17-year-old. I have never heard anything like it before, this genius never ceases to amaze me. © Larry D. Pifer

**** Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 (the charity work of Angelina Jordan is only one of the many things that makes her so special.) Angelina Jordan's historical journey is captivating, as she showcases her talent at the age of17 with a voice that transcends time and space, Angelina Jordan mesmerized the world with her rendition of "Unchained Melody" at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in 2023. Accompanied by the KORK orchestra, the 17-year-old singer paid tribute to Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award, and remains in Iran. Angelina Jordan is the Stratovarius of voice *** A Stratovarius is a rare and valuable violin but having one does not guarantee musical excellence. It takes skill and practice to master such an instrument. Angelina Jordan has a voice that can be compared to a Stratovarius. She has a natural talent and a refined technique that allow her to sing with remarkable expression and beauty. © Larry D. Pifer

Nice analogy. She always reminds me of the first time I had fresh squeezed orange juice from a street cart on a hot sunny day in the tropics. I thought I had known what orange juice tasted like .. until that day. It was so deliciously complex and satisfying, I actually laughed.

In 2014, a little Norwegian girl was named and codified, a national treasure by both the King of Norway and the prime Minister. That same year, she sang for the Nobel peace prize winners all at the age of 8. In 2023, that same girl, now almost 18 will once again grace the Nobel peace prize stage and sing for the recipient once again. That young girl is none other than Angelina Jordan. Angelina at the 2023 Nobel peace prize concert. Angelina Jordan just made history. Angelina is the only solo singer under the age of 18 to have performed twice at the Nobel peace prize concert. Angelina singing, "unchained melody" accompanied by KORK. When I learned the story of Narges Mohammadi, this years recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, and the history of the song "Unchained Melody", I fully understood why Angelina Jordan chose this song.

Don't know anyone who would argue that Bobby Hadfield's rendition is 'The Gold Standard' for this song, but Angelina permeates my inner being with more emotion laden penetration than Bobby did and it is a fitting tribute to Narges Mohammadi, this year's recipient of the 'Noble Peace Prize', who is languishing in an Iranian prison for simply trying to improve women's rights in Iran. The fact that Angelina's beloved grandmother and life's mentor, 'Mery Zamani, is also Iranian must bring special meaning to her in being able to honor Narges here.

In the past, out of true respect for Bobby's rendition, Angelina stayed 'spot on' with his recital, not delving into her arsenal of 'Jazz'. But here she decides to apply that arsenal for this reason. It has to do with her wanting to bring as much emotion laden penetration as possible, which only a true application of 'Jazz' can achieve, and let us remember that Angelina's beloved grandmother 'Mery Zamani' is Iranian as is Narges, and it is Narges Mohammadi that she wants to be the center of attention because of her plight.

A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice. As usual, a vocal master piece. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on KZbin went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a KZbin video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on KZbin. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On KZbin, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles. On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions. On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go". On July 23th she released her orginal EP “Old Enough”. Angelina perform Concert at the Music Hall in Portsmouth New Hampshire on Sept 22nd, 2023. It Was a great concert, who was not and could regret it, a big mistake. On 10/27/23 she released her new orginal singiel “Our Time”. In November 2023, she was presented as a debutante at Le Bal des débutantes in Paris. On 12/08/23 she released new Marry Christmas EP “Driving Home for Christmas”. On 12/11/23 she sing in Oslo at the Nobel Peace Prize Celebration - Unchained Melody tribute to 2023 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi.

Sarge, many thanks for your reaction. This performance was a tribute to Narges Mohammadi, on the day after the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony and concert. Angelina's maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani, is Iranian and we can only imagine the conversations between the two of them concerning Narges and her mission for women's rights in Iran. Narges is currently in prison for her activities, so her two twin children, both age 17, like Angelina, accepted the award on her behalf. With that context, this performance is far more meaningful and heartfelt.

This song was written and first sung in the mid 1950's for a prison movie. Many people will say that no one will ever cover this song better than Bobby Hatfield (Righteous Brothers) did in 1965, and until 2015 I was one of those people! That year I heard Angelina do a short version live on a TV show in Norway at 9 yo. No, I would not say she did it better then, but she did it so fantastic especially for a 9 year old that I said then that without a doubt one day she would do it better than anyone else had! I have one distinct honor in my 81 years on this earth! I was in the audience in Burbank Calf. for the Andy Williams TV show the night Bobby sang this song live for the first time! Then 58 years later (Sept. 22, 2023) I was in the audience at Portsmouth N.H. for Angelina's live performance of the song! And she did it better than bobby. She slowed it down (even slower than the Nobel Peace Prize performance) and she put more emotion into the song than I had ever experiences from anyone with any song! It was so good that even a terrible band could not keep it from being the best I had ever heard my all time favorite song sung! I am probably the only person that was setting in the audience for both Bobby's and Angelina's live performances! Sadly I was not in the audience 3 months later to hear Angelina do this live version but I have listened to it well over 100 times and I have listened to her Sept. version also over 100 times! I still cannot tell which one of the two is the best! They are different but still similar! They are both so full of emotion that even after hearing both over 100 time I still get teary eyed hearing either version!

Great reaction and Happy New Year. Angelina inspires me to do what I can to help make the world a better place, so I am asking angels and reactors to spread the story of Narges Mohammadi. Angelina was recorded here at the Nobel Peace prize tribute in Oslo Norway, elegantly honoring with song, the brave recipient, with peace and respect. She paid homage to Narges, who is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two twin children, who are 17, spoke on her behalf at this event. The more people who are aware, and call for change, the more hopeful that the leaders of Iran will set her free. Implementing acts of kindness to others is how Angelina always reminds us to live our lives. We ALL need to honor Angelina by following her lead. If more people provide this kind of love and kindness, we will all help make the world a better place. Peace and Love.

She is only 17 years old, and from Oslo in Norway. She signed with the label Republic Records just 14 years old, I think we can safely leave the promotion to Republic Record. Marketing will start when they are ready. Republic Records know 100% what they are doing? I think a lot of people don't realize how much Angelina has done in her short life She has recently performed at the Nobel Prize 2023, and also performed at the FIFA AWARD, also performed in front of 40 000 people only 11 years old invited by Norah Jones. She was also specially invited by Quincy Jones to perform on his 85th birthday in the O2 arena / London. And so on goes the list... She has over 250 songs on KZbin with cover songs and many originals. Angelina also plays piano and guitar.Angelina, is the young legend! The truth is that within a year or two she will be the artist for the big occasions. and not a artist who tops a list for a week and is forgotten just as quickly. When she sometimes belts is it because the fits in the performances. She sings to us only she can do! Angelina recently had a sold-out concert in Portsmouth, New Hampshire., where there was an audience from many different country all the way from Australia and from 39 different states in the USA.

You mentioned you don't know everything about Angelina. If you have not seen this, here is some basic information. Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became one of the youngest ever vocalists to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy. She is now 17, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. A major attraction to Angelina's music is the emotion and attitude she conveys, although she has not experienced the life events! She is known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register for any song or genre. She was signed by Republic Records when she was 14. She was not widely promoted for a few years, as her family wanted to allow her a normal childhood. However, things are changing rapidly as she has now graduated school. She has recently released two original music video singles from Republic Records, Love Don't Let Me Go, and Now I'm the Fool, coinciding with her new six song EP called Old Enough. The four other songs have been released as visualizers, but where it is that videos are coming. A world tour is in the works, likely for the fall, accompanying her full album release. Here is a detailed independent chronological playlist from ages 6 to 17, of most of Angelina's 200+ videos including tiktok and Instagram. www.dimlylit.net/aja/ A second more condensed KZbin list begins with some originals, her EP, and a few specialty songs. Then it starts chronologically beginning with Gloomy Sunday at age 7 on NGT. kzbin.info/aero/PL2v8kgVeo4EbQD6l_WAVjOfItquzW7oEc Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even donated her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond. Angelina captures hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world and spread love and peace. I trust this will cause you to embrace her as millions of others have, and that you will continue down the rabbit hole from which you will not want to escape. Peace and love. Please include in your description the artist Official Channel as well as the original video. It really helps your support message which is already greatly appreciated. Encourage the viewers to like, share, comment, and subscribe not only to you, but also the artist as it helps both your algorithms!

The Nobel Peace Prize is given out in Oslo, Norway. Angelina Astar Jordan was born in Oslo.

This is today's equivalent of the official Nobel Peace Prize concert - a more casual dress would hardly be appropriate. The fact that this year's NPP laureate is jailed in Iran was taken into account in song selection as well as in type of performance and accompaniment by the Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra. If AGT was the last thing you saw live, you missed a lot: "I have nothing" live at Allsang pa grensen 2022, three summer concerts in Kongsberg and Kurbadhagen 2022, Unforgettable Gala in December 2022, FIFA award show 2023 , Germany's next top model 2023, Portsmouth concert 2023, Le Bal in Paris 2023

Yeah I have a lot of her catalog to get to. I guessed as much for the NPP attire but was more to point out how long it had been since I’d seen her live. She clearly has grown up since 13. I love what I’ve heard or seen from Angelina. Also, thank you for the backstory on the NPP selection.

@@SargeStreams, Yes, her newer stuff is amazing, but it's her early covers (8 - 12) as she grew up that made her what she is today. The early years should not be overlooked if you really want to experience Angelina to the fullest.

@@SargeStreams I see. 🙂 Yes, kids grow a lot between the ages of 13 and 17. 😉 In mid-2019, Angelina had her last full public concert before the pandemic, when she was 13 years old. Since then she has grown "off screen" impressively, both physically and vocally, which is why her diva-like appearance in the blue gawn on “Allsang pa grensen” 2022 with this powerfull "I have Nothing" cover was no less than a sensation. And she also shows much more of her songwriting skills today than ever before (You've "seen" her recent EP so you know about the latter). But what she achieved between the ages of 8 and 12 is no less impressive. There are at least two dozen performances that you would never expect from someone so young (let alone “I put a spell on You”).

I've heard many versions/performances of this iconic song, and this is my all time favorite; tied with John Gary's version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5jMeWyXZcirl5Ysi=b0dv3oR0CN-LqIyC Her inclusion in this prestigious event is a testament to her rising stardom. Absolutely Stunning performance!!!

AJ has wanted to sing for this event for many years. She sang at it once when she was 7/8...for that years winner. But this is, I think most important to her because the recipient of this Nobel Peace Price is an Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi, who cannot be here to receive it because she is in Prison in Iran for 31 years (Plus ???Lashes) for her demonstrations of Human rights in Iran-specifically woman's treatment there. It has great meaning for her as her Grandma is Iranian...........

@@SargeStreams She/he meant that there was 6 seconds more in the video that shows Angelina's gratitude at the end and presses her hand on her chest in appreciation for the applause with her humble smile. For those 6 seconds you missed quite a lot. It's a bit rude stopping a performance like that exactly when it finishes. As for me I don't mind it, you personally can still watch the end whenever you want.

@@TroyArcAngel 6 seconds? Really? A little nitpicky right?Never mind the entire video of appreciating her work and efforts? It was obvious she was showing gratitude (she picked the song) and had smiled and waved/ bowed etc Like rude no…we don’t do that here. If I wanted to be outright disrespectful I’d do that and there wouldn’t be a question here. I wouldn’t have spent the time it takes and have a playlist dedicated to someone I’d intentionally disrespect. Much love 🧡

He did what he was supposed to do as a “music” reactor and reacted to the music and the performance….. if he doesn’t finish 6 seconds of the video for applause … oh well! Want to watch the last 6 seconds then watch it on the original video. Good grief!

Interesting that you mention that you have not seen a lot of Angelina's live recordings - most of her videos throughout the years have been live performance videos either at home, in the studio, or in concert. Here is an example from 2022 of her performing in concert with two of her own songs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnyuZ2mBatpkfMU
