No. Left wing politics is anti-hierarchical. Right-wing politics sees it as natural and attempts to preserve traditional hierarchies (and hierarchies at all), or those they mistake for natural via nostalgia.

Creating a 3-1 right triangle with a hypotenuse of roughly 3.16 units squared. Shoe shifts 3 units left and 3 units down. Libertarian left works on the idea that people would be willing to give up their property and rights. Authoritarian left is the realization that libertarian doesn't work on a massive amount of the population. If you take out the human nature out of the equation libertarian left can work, however, in reality, it just can't work. You do know that social liberty is a thing that isn't necessarily dependent on "muh small government"? In theory, a stronger Government could even be beneficial to social liberty. Many people forget that _other people_ can be just as detrimental to personal liberty as the government can be. You need an institution that is capable of fighting that, namely the government. Therefore, smaller government doesn't always equate more liberty and vice versa. It's all a question of balance. The U.S. government isn't doing that great of a job at protecting their citizens' liberty from each other, that's why Shoe can argue in favour of a stronger government. As for "'free' healthcare" as you call it, it's really just _healthcare._ Basically all non shithole governments (even the U.S.) do the same already for other things. Most things the government does is more or less equally useful to everyone (like building roads), how much you benefit from government action is independent of how much taxes you pay. It'd be the exact same with healthcare. Everybody pays insurance according to their wealth, everybody get's treatment if they need it. It's really just the question of whether you want it to be possible in your country for someone to have their livelihoods destroyed because healthcare is being provided by the free market.

I would say Sargon doesn't always get his point across fully if you only know him from one encounter compared to if you've known him for a long time. Shoe has definitely shifted, not part of social media so not clued up on her life only videos on her main channel but something has happened that has caused her to want to shift her opinions and views that has led her dangerously on the path of infringing on personal property. His stances haven't changed, but his focus on them has changed from, "They are what they are and this is why they're correct," to, "My stances are the traditions of our culture and are just as worthy of existing as anyone else's; why can't they exist in the land in which they originated?" That is technically conserving them, but he is not a conservative.

See I think a lot of people get mixed up here (just like on the flag burning) for Sargon. He doesn't want to make the things he believes are good law, but he wants to see these moral philosophies promoted in the face of the intoxicating hedonism-nihilism combo that removes a moral framework from underneath society. He seems to me to be less politically concerned and more culturally concerned, and sees traditionalism as something that has worked in the past, and sees current society as working less. Its true that the traditionalist framework creates 'marginalized' groups, but if it works for 95%+ of the population thats pretty damn good, and hell, the modern conception of traditionalism through the nostalgic-purity spiraling looking glass back into history loses a bunch of the nuance IN traditional social dynamics that make being a 'marginalized' person (those not catered to by the system) not actually as egregious as we've largely been led to believe. For example, gay people feature prominently in history and most of them were not persecuted for their sexuality (especially if it was kept private, obviously people knew but they simply would not talk about it). It appears to me that it was really in the wake of the second world war and the threat of communism that religiosity began to player a larger and larger factor in the every day lives of people in America resulting in more of the persecution we have come to associate with traditionalism. It's the same with unconventional family structures - the nuclear family was really an apparition of the golden era of America following WWII, mutligenerational families were common, and living spaces were shared in relatively tight quarters.

@@Seth9809 Indeed I have, and it may well be the case for certain topics (although that is something for in-depth discussion). Being close-minded towards one side of arguments but not the other side CAN cause someone to shift in position while still being close-minded. It really depends on the person both giving the arguments and the person receiving the arguments. If Shoe's left-wing political sympathies caused her to develop resentment towards the right-wing of politics, then it is natural she would shift leftward on the political compass. Alternatively, if she hasn't heard persuasive enough arguments from the right-wing (either through herself, her connections, or because the arguments themselves are weak) then she may discard ideas on that simple basis. I know I dismiss flat-earthers out-of-hand because I haven't heard persuasive enough arguments from them (also the mountain of evidence that contradicts them). To be honest, it was mostly my distaste of her incivility on a particular topic that spurred me to stop watching her completely. I'm only confused on one bit. "hierarchy is a necessary evil" on the right side. That confuses me if only because there's nothing evil about a hierarchy. It's just math and results, tbh. In every scenario, it just comes back to maths.

Hierarchies are natural and we as humans also chafe under hierarchy, the point is that some people keep striving for a strange world view where its either one or the other, when the truth is that they both have to exist and there must and always will be people who opose it, ideally we as a species just have to try and avoid going to far in either direction on that point, neither absolutism nor anarchy.

I think Jordan Peterson once said, -That if two people, both near the centrer; one inclined slightly to the left, the other slightly inclined to the right, constantly argue over something they disagree on, then both parties delve deeper and deeper into their own political leaning in order to find validation and justification. This means they interact with people of their 'side' that not only validate them, but also introduce (and make them more susceptible to) more extreme believes of that side too? A political echo-chamber in other words breeds a stronger political bias.

I bounced around their present positions when I was younger but settled into -1,-2 a long time ago, restrictions and freedoms can pretty much be equally abused. The safety net is needed yes, but it absolutely needs to be conditional, otherwise you're giving extra degrees of freedom to those that aren't helping others.

I've watched both of them for years, and I still agree with them both. What I've noticed, though, is that Shoe spent a lot of time talking about burgeoning authoritarians, but then she doesn't see the connection between authoritarian "woke shit" and potential totalitarianism. Maybe I'm crazy, but how can I not be concerned when the bedroom nonsense we used to laugh at is now mainstream? Movies and television parrot intersectionalist talking points. Regular people say "people of color" or "manspreading" without question. No question about putting "Black Lives Matter" on NBA courts. It may seem minor, but tomorrow it might not be. As someone who is left of center, living in LA, and working in entertainment, I'm telling you: most things of cultural and social importance are biased toward the left, and not in a good way. This year alone has established that you can do whatever you want - even kill people - as long as you have the right politics. I don't think that corporations genuinely support these ideas. I think it's just the cool, safe position to take, and they're capitalizing on it. Shoe seems to think that "woke shit" ends with stupid opinions and KZbin videos; that the ideology behind it doesn't logically lead to violence and death for those who fully apply it. I know I'm going on a bit, but this whole drama has shown me that, while I may not 100% agree with Sargon, I still agree with his reasoning and I get a useful perspective from him. Shoe still has a useful perspective, but she's changed in a way which could be more harmful. The primary distinction we need to make is between authoritarian and libertarian; do you value freedom over control or control over freedom? If you turn your back on any authoritarians, regardless of what their values are, then you will regret it. I guess time will tell. Hopefully getting past 2020 will clear some things up.
