Cold press paper just means that they didn’t use heat when they pressed it flat. The result is that there is more tooth or texture to the surface. Hot press is when they use heat to press it flat, it kind of irons it and it and has a more smooth surface. 😉 love these cards. So fun and beautiful

Oops! I'm late to the party again Sasha! I can't believe it's been over a year since I added this to my 'watch later' list! I LOVE this technique, your cards are stunning. I need to do a batch of Thank You cards in a hurry so this would be perfect. I had wanted to use up some of my patterned paper stash but I like this idea much better. Though I just had a thought, I could use the paler patterned paper as a background and use stencils to add a bit of colour rather than take it away. The doodling, which I love, would still work as long as the colours are muted enough. Thank you for the inspiration! Clare x

I think you’d need to dab off the distress inks and oxides while they are wet. Less water too like you said in the video. When you dry distress inks they become more permanent, so you’d want to lift, then dry. You have some gorgeous stamps! I never buy florals because I don’t think I can colour them. But this works so well with them.

Perhaps if you'd use hot press paper (it's smoother than cold press) you're ink lifting might work better? Could be nice to give that a try if you have the hot press paper. Love all the cards you have made, looking forward to give this a try with my watercolors (don't have gouache so it will turn out a bit more transparent I think)
@PHALOMOON
@PHALOMOON 3 жыл бұрын
The hard line of paint along the edges of the card is caused by pooling of the paint. While it's still wet, dry your brush with a paper towel and lightly touch it along the edge. The dry brush will soak up the excess water/paint for a smoother look.

Love the addition of doodles. I never think to do that on cards although I do in my art journals. Hot-pressed watercolour card is smoother than cold-pressed so better for detailed stamps. I love that technique and I appreciate some new ideas that I hadn't thought of. Using a stencil for the lift is a great idea. I have used a sponge in a free hand technique, but I love your stencil with the microfiber cloth. I think this would also work really wellbut the crafter's companion watercolor pens. You can get a very intense color with those. I'm going to try it and I will make a video and link to your vid. The metallics are stunning! I'm going to try that with my crafter's companion metallic brush pens because I think they'll be brilliant. Thanks again for all the inspiration!
