I think that it's two factors in the skit that sell it: firstly, he's constantly avoiding direct eye contact; he rarely looks directly into the camera and is always moving his vision down and towards the left or right which feels super uncomfortable. The other one is that he's doing using standard "charismatic TV salesman" body language and gestures, but his movements are awkward and uncomfortable; plus, he uses the same gestures repeatedly which makes it feel like he's imitating that persona rather than embodying it. Basically, it's like the uncomfortable feeling you get when the shy introverted kid is forced to give a presentation (definitely wasn't me... haha... ha...)

Sadly, Matt and Trey have become old, and it shows in their work in the last few years. First, they killed Trump before the 2016 elections... and then, they made a fool out of themselves by making an episode with Hillary Clinton winning... and edited it last minute which made no sense. For four years, they played Mr. Garrison as Trump with lame jokes that every TV "comedian" had been doing... and they apologized to Al Gore for the iconic ManBearPig. And then they predicted that Trump would win the re-election and started this because they were not able to play into the political humor with South Park anymore... except he didn't win... and this show doesn't work without Trump in the office. And sadly, what are the "jokes" about Trump that they manage to pull off in this? Give him a feminine voice, make him say he's attracted to his daughter i.e. the things that Trump already does himself. They should have retired in 2010.

It looked like these stand up comedians who start out with jokes about life that everyone can relate to... and as they get successful, all their jokes are about hotel and travel and living as a successful comedian because they don't have the life everyone does. Matt and Trey mostly made fun of the elites. That was their thing. Except they became one of them... and now elite stuff makes too much sense to them because they hang out with them and live that life... and its not funny to them.
