I personally never saw an issue with Charlotte converting. Harry was clear early on that he had to marry a Jewish woman and didn’t pressure Charlotte to convert. She made her own choice and clearly her religion wasn’t important enough to stop her from marrying the love of her life. Good for her.

However that also meant that, to Harry, religion was more important than her.

@@actaemazantor9558 And to her, having a baby was more important than Troy. It's about who is compatible, what is a deal breaker and which compromises to AVOID the dealbreaker are acceptable. Even after the temporary break up with Harry, Charlotte remained Jewish. Considering how hard she worked to convert, I can actually see why. Probably didn’t hurt that everyone at the temple loved her. At least, from what I’ve seen of the show. I haven’t finished it yet.

Judaism isn't only religion though. It's an ethnicity and a culture. It's passed down through the mother, so if Charlotte hadn't converted, he would not have been able to have a Jewish child. He wanted his family to be Jewish, and they are because Charlotte converted.

It was Charlotte's decision to convert to Judaism, I mean I don't know why many here throw hate at Harry, he already had made clear that he would only marry a Jew for whatever reason you want but it is his decision and his standards, and it was in Charlotte's hand to decide to walk away or to find a way to be with the guy he loved, she decided to convert, it was HER decision, Harry didn't ask or tell her to convert.

I am NOT religious really. But I still consider myself Christian, its part of my identity. Its kind of funny but as a child and teenager I sought out to express my faith, but my parents never steared me towards religion. During my adult years (I am middle aged now) I have become much less religious but never considered myself as agnostic nor atheist. My mind is a sceptic but my heart and soul remain Christian.

I’ve asked dozens of both diaspora and Israeli Jews how they feel about the female partner converting for a man and the general consensus is ‘Why would you change for a man who doesn’t think you’re good enough as you are?’ I met a girl once whose mother had converted for her father. My boyfriend at the time, who was Jewish, thought the same, even remarking that it was ‘fucked up’ that her mother wasn’t good enough until she converted. I think Charlotte did it mainly because she’s a fan of Elizabeth Taylor.
